May Sketch Challenge-Wrapped Bouquet Thank You Card

May 2021 Sketch Challenge

May 2021 sketch challenge

Sometimes it helps to have a jumping off point with your crafting, and a sketch challenge is a perfect way to start!

Use the sketch as a blueprint for your own creations.

I will be sharing sketch challenges every so often.

I hope they provide inspiration, and you'll share your creations with me!

Here's my take on the challenge:

Newspaper background

For this card, I used Wrapped Bouquet stamp set and the coordinating Flower Bouquet Dies.

Both of these items are currently found in the January-June Mini Catalog and will be available through June 30, 2021.

I really like the wrapped newspaper images and dies, along with the choices of 2 bouquets of flowers.

Change up the colors, and they are perfect for year-round occasions.

For this card, I stamped the newspaper print using Evening Evergreen ink, one of the new 2021-2023 In Colors.

The bouquet of flowers was stamped using another new In Color, Soft Succulent, then colored using a variety of Stampin' Write Markers.

The leaves are cut out of Evening Evergreen, Soft Succulent, and Soft Sea Foam card stock.

I added 2021-2022 In Color Jewels to the centers of the flowers, and added a bow out of baker's twine from my stash.

March Nacho Average Sketch Challenge-Peaceful Poppies and Bird Ballad DSP

Nacho Average Challenge

My Upline, Tammy Fite, posted this sketch challenge for her Nacho Average downline members for March.

I usually don't go searching for online challenges to participate in, but this one coming from my Upline, I knew I wanted to participate.

It can often help to have a challenge to get the creative juices flowing.

Here are the cards I came up for this challenge.

I wanted to use the scraps of paper I had on my work table.

As it happened, I had pieces of Peaceful Poppies and Bird Ballad Designer Series Paper left over from various projects.

I decided to let the DSP do the heavy lifting for me!

Nacho Challenge

I really like the bright poppy watercolor design found in Peaceful Poppies DSP.  Spring just jumps off the paper!

For this card, I simply cut a piece of the DSP into a square using the Big Shot and one of the Stitched Shapes Framelits Dies.  I then made a Flirty Flamingo frame to go around it by nesting two of the dies and popping it up with Mini Dimensionals.

I embossed the Old Olive piece using the Big Shot and Subtles Embossing Folder.

The greeting is from Itty Bitty Greetings, stamped in Rich Razzleberry using the Stamparatus.

I added some Rich Razzleberry enamel dots out of my stash to complete.

Nacho ChallengeHere's another take on the sketch I made using scraps of Bird Ballad Designer Series Paper.

This paper just makes me smile!

I used the Stitched Shapes and Stitched Rectangle Dies to cut out the paper for easy layering.

Then, the pieces left over from the card above where used to create this card.

One sketch morphed into three cards!

Easy, peasy!

Sending Flowers Die Meets Baby Wipe Background

Sending Flowers Baby Wipe Background

Sending Flwoers Baby Wipe Background 1

I created these 2 cards using the baby wipes left over from a card idea I was experimenting with.

I'm not sure what happened to that particular card as it obviously didn't make the cut, but I kept the baby wipes to use for another project or two.

Recycle and Reuse!

Here's what the baby wipes looked like:

Baby wipes

I simply attached them to scrap card stock using SNAIL Adhesive, then trimmed them down for use in other projects.

For these, I paired the baby wipe backgrounds with the Sending Flowers Die for quick and easy cards.

The tie-dye effect just makes me smile!

The Sending Flowers die is part of the Coordination Product Release from Stampin' Up! and is available through March 31 or while supplies last.

More Animal Expedition Cards, Sure to Bring a Smile

Rhino thank you big timeThank You Big Time Rhino

Wild about you giraffesWild About You Giraffes

Here are another couple quick and easy cards made using Animal Expedition Designer Series Paper paired with the Animal Outing Bundle.

These cards just make me smile!

You can view more of my Animal Outing card ideas HERE.

For the rhino card, I stamped the image on a piece of Whisper White card stock using Basic Gray ink, then colored her in using a gray watercolor pencil and a Blender Pen.  For the bird, I picked up ink from the lid of the Berry Burst ink pad using a Blender Pen.  I used a Light Crushed Curry Stampin' Blend for the yellow on the bird.  For the ground, I picked up ink from the lid of the Granny Apple Green ink pad using a Blender Pen.

For the giraffe card, I stamped the first giraffe on a piece of Whisper White card stock using Early Espresso ink.

For the opposite facing giraffe, I stamped the image on a silicone craft sheet using Early Espresso ink, turned the craft sheet upside down and "stamped" it onto a piece of Whisper White card stock, creating a mirror image.

I used the Light Crumb Cake and Crushed Curry Stampin' Blends to color the giraffes.

Both greetings were stamped on the designer paper card front and embossed with a heat tool.

I used my 2 1/4" circle punch to create the Berry Burst circle behind the rhino.  I used my 2" circle punch to create the circle in the giraffe card.  I made a ring for the circle by using my 2" and 2 1/4" circle punches.

The Lemon Lime Twist piece of designer paper is secured to the Crumb Cake piece behind the punched designer paper.  The giraffes are slipped in between using Mini Dimensionals to pop them up.
