Paper Towel Background Christmas Pocketful of Happiness

Paper towel background christmas

I always try to recycle and reuse my crafting tools.

This includes the paper towels that I use to wipe off stamps, the Stamparatus plates, or to dab my watercolor projects.

This was the case with this piece of paper towel.

I can't remember what project I was using it for, but it obviously had shades of green.  I usually save the paper towels, and have a big stack of them to use in future projects.

I decided to use it to make a Christmas pocket full of snowflakes using the Pocketful of Happiness stamp set and coordinating Pocket Die.

(To see more of my recycle and reuse projects, please visit my Recycle and Reuse Page HERE.)

Here's how:

  1. If the paper towel you are going to use has plys, separate them so you are only using 1 ply.  Save the remaining plys for other projects.  You'll need to place the paper towel on a sturdy background so you will be able to cut it down to the size you want, plus cut it with the die and die-cut machine.  I used a piece of Whisper White card stock and a piece of Adhesive Sheet.  If you don't have Adhesive Sheets, you could use a glue stick or xyron machine.  You just need the card stock base to have some sticky so the paper towel will adhere to it.
  2. Stamp the image from Pocketful of Happiness using Night of Navy ink.  I used my Stamparatus to get a good stamped image.  The paper towel has texture, so you'll probably need to stamp it a couple times to get a complete image.
  3.  Cut the pocket out using the Pocket Die and die-cut machine.
  4. Fold the tabs along the score lines and apply Tear and Tape Adhesive.  Peel the backing off the Tear and Tape and place on Wrapped in Plaid 6" x 6" Designer Series paper card front.  Attach to Gold Foil mat.  Attach to Night of Navy card base.
  5.  Cut snowflakes out of Gold Foil paper using a die-cut machine and Frosted Frames Die.  Slip snowflakes behind the  pocket, using Mini Dimensionals to pop them up.
  6. Stamp greeting from Christmas Deer on scrap piece of Gold Foil paper using Night of Navy ink.  Heat emboss using a heat tool and clear embossing powder.  Attach to card front using Dimensionals to pop it up.  Add Metallic Pearls to complete.

I always try to recycle and reuse my crafting tools.

This includes the paper towels that I use to wipe off stamps, the Stamparatus plates, or to dab my watercolor projects.

This was the case with a piece of paper towel I had used to dab Pigment Sprinkles.

I was using the Daffodil Delight and Mango Melody Sprinkles, so I was left with a pretty and bright paper towel with a tie-dye effect.

I decided to use it to make a bright and cheery pocket of flowers using the Pocketful of Happiness stamp set and coordinating Pocket Die.

Here's how:

  2. Stamp the image from Pocketful of Happiness using Early Espresso ink.
Peel the backing off the Tear and Tape and place on Soft Suede card base.
  5.  Stamp flowers on So Saffron card stock using Early Espresso ink.  Color flowers and leaves using Stampin' Blends or Stampin' Write Markers.  Fussy cut using a pair of scissors.  Slip flowers behind pocket, using Mini Dimensionals to pop them up.
  6. Stamp greeting on So Saffron card stock using Early Espresso ink.  Punch out using a 1 3/8" circle punch.  Attach to front of pocket to complete.

Vellum and Blends Pocketful of Happiness

Vellum Pocketful of HappinessVellum and Blends Pocketful of Happiness

Here's another fun card created using the new stamp set Pocketful of Happiness with the coordinating Pocket Die.

For this card, I stamped the pocket image onto a piece of vellum card stock using Stazon ink and the Stamparatus.

Then, I colored the backside of the image using a collection of Stampin' Blends.

The flowers inside the pocket were stamped on a scrap piece of Whisper White card stock using Memento Black ink.  Once they were colored in using Stampin' Blends, I cut them out using a pair of scissors.

I also used the Stampin' Blends to color the pearls.

The greeting comes from Itty Bitty Greetings.

An easy and fun card to create!

Faux Denim Pocketful of Happiness

Faux denimFaux Denim Pocketful of Happiness

The new Pocketful of Happiness stamp set with coordinating Pocket Dies just makes me smile.

For this card, I combined them with Faux Denim, one of my favorite background techniques.

Here's how:

  1. To create the Faux Black Denim Technique, swipe Smoky Slate ink onto a piece of Whisper White card stock.
  2. Next, swipe on Memento Black ink. Set aside to dry.
  3. Swipe on White Craft ink. Set aside to dry.
  4. Rotate the card stock 90 degrees, and swipe on Memento Black ink.
  5. Add Smoky Slate and White Craft ink as desired.
  6. Stamp pocket image from Pocketful of Happiness on a scrap piece of Whisper White card stock using Memento Black ink and the Stamparatus.
  7. Cut pocket using the Big Shot and coordinating Pocket Die.  Fold pocket tabs along the score lines.  Apply Tombow Multi-purpose glue to the tabs and attach to the Faux Denim card front.
  8. Cut a Pearlized Doily in half with a pair of scissors.  Sponge or swipe Real Red ink on the back side of the doily.  The ink will not stick to the pearlized finish on the front of the doily.  Apply a small amount of glue to the doily and slip it inside the pocket.
  9. Cut a 1/4" strip of Basic Black card stock and attach to the top of the pocket.  Add 2 red rhinestones.
  10.  Attach card front to Real Red mat.  Attach to Whisper White card base to complete.
