Sponged Embossed Vellum

Stampin' Blends Vellum

Stampin' Blends Vellum inside

Here's another idea using vellum card stock using an embossing folder.  Then, add color to the back of the vellum using sponges.

Easy to do.

Here's how:

  1. Emboss vellum card stock using the Big Shot and Swirls & Curls Embossing Folder.
  2. Sponge Granny Apple Green, Flirty Flamingo, Rococco Rose, and Poppy Parade inks on the back side of the embossed vellum. You can also do the Direct to Paper method by swiping ink directly from the ink pads.  Use the sponge to blend the colors.
  3. Attach vellum to Whisper White card base, using a small amount in the corners so it doesn’t show through the vellum. Punch a circle out of the card front using the 2” circle punch.  Mark the inside with a pencil so you know where to stamp the Painted Poppies image so it shows through the circle.
  4. Stamp poppies using Memento Black ink. Stamp background using Flirty Flamingo or Rococco Rose ink.  Ink, stamp off, then stamp.
  5. Color poppies using various Stampin’ Write Markers.
  6. To create the ring on the outside, punch a 2” circle out of Pear Pizzazz card stock. Punch it slightly off the edge of the card stock to match up with the punched circle on the card front.  Then, place the 2 ¼” circle over the hole and punch.  You’ll be left with a ¼” ring.  Attach the ring to the card front using Tombow Multi-purpose Glue.
  7. Stamp greeting from Varied Vases on scrap piece of Pear Pizzazz card stock using Memento Black ink. Cut out using the Big Shot and Stitched Rectangle Die.  Attach to card front to complete.

March Nacho Average Sketch Challenge-Peaceful Poppies and Bird Ballad DSP

Nacho Average Challenge

My Upline, Tammy Fite, posted this sketch challenge for her Nacho Average downline members for March.

I usually don't go searching for online challenges to participate in, but this one coming from my Upline, I knew I wanted to participate.

It can often help to have a challenge to get the creative juices flowing.

Here are the cards I came up for this challenge.

I wanted to use the scraps of paper I had on my work table.

As it happened, I had pieces of Peaceful Poppies and Bird Ballad Designer Series Paper left over from various projects.

I decided to let the DSP do the heavy lifting for me!

Nacho Challenge

I really like the bright poppy watercolor design found in Peaceful Poppies DSP.  Spring just jumps off the paper!

For this card, I simply cut a piece of the DSP into a square using the Big Shot and one of the Stitched Shapes Framelits Dies.  I then made a Flirty Flamingo frame to go around it by nesting two of the dies and popping it up with Mini Dimensionals.

I embossed the Old Olive piece using the Big Shot and Subtles Embossing Folder.

The greeting is from Itty Bitty Greetings, stamped in Rich Razzleberry using the Stamparatus.

I added some Rich Razzleberry enamel dots out of my stash to complete.

Nacho ChallengeHere's another take on the sketch I made using scraps of Bird Ballad Designer Series Paper.

This paper just makes me smile!

I used the Stitched Shapes and Stitched Rectangle Dies to cut out the paper for easy layering.

Then, the pieces left over from the card above where used to create this card.

One sketch morphed into three cards!

Easy, peasy!

Vellum Poppies

Vellum poppiesI CASED Mary Brown's vellum poppies card using Perennial Essence Vellum card stock paired with Poppy Moments Dies.

I really like the soft colors found in the vellum pack (Old Olive, Petal Pink, and So Saffron).

It just look like Spring!

Then, I changed up the card a little to create this card for a Beta Sigma Phi Founder's Day invitation.

BSP invitation

Yellow and black are the colors for the Beta Sigma Phi organization, so I paired the So Saffron vellum with Daffodil Delight card stock.

I had to make 3 invitations.  There were a lot of pieces to cut, but the cards came together pretty easily.

Painted Poppies Valentine's Day Card

Over the next few days, I'll be sharing some Valentine's Day cards I created to send out to customers and friends.

I used stamps in my collection that aren't necessarily Valentine's Day themed, but with the right colors and greeting, they lend themselves to cards that can be sent to the special people in your life.

For the first two, I used the stamp set Painted Poppies.  I stamped them onto Whisper White card bases using Memento Black ink, then colored in the image using a variety of Blends.

The greeting is from Honey Bee.  I used the Stamparatus to get good stamped images.

The pearls were colored with a Lovely Lipstick Blend.

The black and silver cording is retired, but any ribbon could be substituted.
