Thank you Snow Much, Life is Beautiful Watercolor Wash Background

Watercolor wash background

Here's another card I created using the watercolor wash background technique paired with Misty Moonlight, Seaside Spray, and Gorgeous Grape inks and Life is Beautiful stamp set.

You can see some of my creations using this color combo Here.

Here's How:

1. Spritz watercolor card front with water.  Create palettes of color in the ink pads of Misty Moonlight, Seaside Spray and Gorgeous Grape using reinkers.  Pick up the colors using a Water Painter and swipe onto the wet card front.  Add more color and or water as desired.  Set aside to dry completely.

2. Stamp tree and  snowflakes from Life is Beautiful using Night of Navy ink.  Stamp greeting from Snowflake Wishes using Night of Navy ink. I used my Stamparatus to get dark, stamped images. Pick up Night of Navy ink with water painter and color landscape below tree.

3. Apply a touch of shimmer using sponge and Frost White Shimmer Paint.

4. Attach to Night of Navy mat.  Attach to Gorgeous Grape card base.  Attach Blue Adhesive-Backed Gems to complete.

Mountain Air Paper Towel Background

Paper towel background tis the season

One of the things I like to do is recycle and reuse the paper towel I've used to blot the ink on my watercolor projects.

Recently, I made several watercolor wash backgrounds using Misty Moonlight, Seaside Spray, and Gorgeous Grape inks.

(Click HERE to see some of my creations)

The paper towel I used had a mix of these colors which I thought was really pretty.

So, I used it for the background of this card paired with Mountain Air stamp set and Majestic Mountain Dies.

Simple to do.

Here's how:

1.  Smooth out the paper towel and set aside to dry completely.  Once dry, separate the plys.  You'll have 2 pieces that you can use for 2 different projects.

2. Attach the paper towel to a piece of scrap card stock using Tombow Glue or Stampin' Seal Adhesive.  By attaching it to a card stock background, you will be able to easily cut it down using a paper trimmer or scissors to fit your project.

3. Stamp mountain image from Mountain Air on watercolor paper using Misty Moonlight and Gorgeous Grape inks.  Cut out using the coordinating Majestic Mountain Die.

4. Stamp trees on watercolor paper using Mossy Meadow ink.  Cut out using coordinating Majestic Mountain Die.

5. Layer images onto paper towel back ground using Dimensionals to pop them up.

6. Attach to Night of Navy mat.  Attach to Whisper White card base.

7. Stamp greeting from Itty Bitty Greetings using Night of Navy ink.  I used my Stamparatus.

8. Stamp bird image using Night of Navy ink to complete.

Single Snowflake Wishes Watercolor Background

Single Snowflake

Here's another card I created using the Watercolor Wash Background Technique paired with the color combo of Misty Moonlight, Seaside Spray, and Gorgeous Grape.

For me, these colors say "winter!"

For more ideas using this technique and color combination, click HERE.

This card was easy to make.

Here's  how:

  1. Create watercolor wash background by creating palettes of color by dropping color from reinkers onto the lids of Misty Moonlight, Seaside Spray, and Gorgeous Grape ink pads.
  2. Spritz watercolor paper card front with water.  Pick up colors one at a time from the ink lids using a water painter and swipe on the wet card front.  Add more color or water as desired.  When satisfied, set piece aside to dry completely.
  3. Stamp large snowflake from Snowflake Wishes on card front using Whisper White Craft Ink.  Sprinkle with white embossing powder and emboss using a heat tool.  Buff image with a paper towel.
  4.  Stamp greeting from Snowflake Wishes using Gorgeous Grape ink.  I used my Stamparatus to get a good, dark image.
  5. Attach to Night of Navy mat.  Attach to Gorgeous Grape card base.  Attach Blue Adhesive-Backed Gems to complete.

Snowflake Wishes Watercolor Wash Background

Watercolor wash background

It's that time of year when most, if not all, the cards I create now through mid December will be Christmas cards.

There maybe a birthday or thank you card thrown in, but mostly it'll be Christmas.

I'm sure you understand!

For this card, I did a watercolor wash for the background.

It's simple.  Here's how:

1. Spritz watercolor card front with water.  Create watercolor wash background by creating palettes of color by dropping color from reinkers onto the lids of Misty Moonlight, Seaside Spray, and Gorgeous Grape ink pads.   Pick up the colors using a Water Painter and swipe onto the wet card front.  Add more color and or water as desired.  Set aside to dry completely.

2. Stamp snowflakes from Snowflake Wishes using Night of Navy ink.  I used my Stamparatus to get dark, stamped images.

3. Add a pool of Whisper White craft ink in the lid of the ink pad and mix with a small amount of water.  Pick up the color with a paint brush, then tap the brush on your index finger over the card front to get little splotches/dots of white.  Add a dot to the center of the snowflakes.  Set aside to allow the ink to dry.

4. Apply the watercolor wash onto a scrap piece of watercolor paper.  Stamp greeting from Snowflake Wishes using Night of Navy ink.  Again, I used my Stamparatus.  Attach to Night of Navy mat.

5. Attach card front to Night of Navy mat.  Attach to Gorgeous Grape card base.  Attach greeting using Dimensionals to pop it up.

I had fun using this color combination, making several cards using different designs and stamp sets including Tree of Life and Mountain Air.  Be sure to check back over the next few days to see my creations!
