Crafting with Aluminum Cans-Bell's Two Hearted Ale

Bells Two Hearted

Two Hearted Ale Card

Two hearted pale ale canThe can before I cut it down to create the card.

One of my favorite crafting techniques is to cut shapes out of aluminum cans and add them to my card creations.

You can view my aluminum can creations HERE

(Instructions and a link to a video tutorial on how to cut the cans can be found on this page)

I'm always on the look out for interesting designs and colors on aluminum cans.

Fortunately, my husband is a craft beer drinker and is always bringing home new beers to try.  Often, these beers have interesting labels on the cans.

My husband drinks the beer, then I confiscate the cans to create!

Recently, he tried Two Hearted Ale from Bell's Brewery in Michigan with this cool fish image on the cans.

This is a perfect image for creating those masculine-themed cards!

I made this card for the husband of a friend of mine who recently passed away.

He is about to put their house up for sale, then leave Colorado for Mississippi.

When asked what he was going to do in Mississippi, he said " I'm going to live with my son, and we're going fishing!"

I thought this card would be perfect for him as just a thinking of you card.

This was simple card to make as I matted the image cut from the can using Pumpkin Pie card stock, then to Mossy Meadow, and finally to a Basic Black card base.

I secured the edges by punching holes using my Crop-a-dile, then inserted retired glimmer brads in the 4 corners.

The possibilities are endless!

Mountain Air Sympathy Card

Dee Sympathy

2020 has been a rough year.

This is the 5th sympathy card I've made so far this year.

This one is for the family of a friend who passed away suddenly the end of June.

This one is especially hard for me as she was a good friend.

She was one of the ladies who welcomed us to Wetmore, and was instrumental in introducing us to the community.

I don't know about you, but I usually have someone in mind as I create a card.

This was certainly the case as I created this one.

I could feel her over my shoulder, smiling at this scene, so perfect for our small mountain community.

We stamped together.  She was extremely talented and fussy!

We shared meals together.

We shopped together.

We laughed together.

We worried about fires and flash floods in our community together.

I will miss her smile.

Rest in peace, Dee.

Jar of Flowers Sympathy Card

Irene Sympathy

Unfortunately, I needed to send another sympathy card.

A long-time resident of our small community passed away recently.

I wanted to send flowers, but instead, decided to make a jar of flowers in a card using the stamp set Jar of Flowers and coordinating Jar Punch.

The jar was punched out of watercolor paper that had been lightly sponged with Pool Party ink.

The flowers and greeting were stamped on watercolor paper using Memento Black ink.

The flowers and stems were colored using a variety of Stampin' Blends.  The flowers were fussy cut using a pair of scissors.

For the background, I spritzed the watercolor card front with water, then added Purple Posy ink refill using a water painter.

The pearls were colored with a black Sharpie pen.
