Sponged Embossed Vellum

Stampin' Blends Vellum

Stampin' Blends Vellum inside

Here's another idea using vellum card stock using an embossing folder.  Then, add color to the back of the vellum using sponges.

Easy to do.

Here's how:

  1. Emboss vellum card stock using the Big Shot and Swirls & Curls Embossing Folder.
  2. Sponge Granny Apple Green, Flirty Flamingo, Rococco Rose, and Poppy Parade inks on the back side of the embossed vellum. You can also do the Direct to Paper method by swiping ink directly from the ink pads.  Use the sponge to blend the colors.
  3. Attach vellum to Whisper White card base, using a small amount in the corners so it doesn’t show through the vellum. Punch a circle out of the card front using the 2” circle punch.  Mark the inside with a pencil so you know where to stamp the Painted Poppies image so it shows through the circle.
  4. Stamp poppies using Memento Black ink. Stamp background using Flirty Flamingo or Rococco Rose ink.  Ink, stamp off, then stamp.
  5. Color poppies using various Stampin’ Write Markers.
  6. To create the ring on the outside, punch a 2” circle out of Pear Pizzazz card stock. Punch it slightly off the edge of the card stock to match up with the punched circle on the card front.  Then, place the 2 ¼” circle over the hole and punch.  You’ll be left with a ¼” ring.  Attach the ring to the card front using Tombow Multi-purpose Glue.
  7. Stamp greeting from Varied Vases on scrap piece of Pear Pizzazz card stock using Memento Black ink. Cut out using the Big Shot and Stitched Rectangle Die.  Attach to card front to complete.

Faux Pergamano Pocketful of Happiness

Faux Pergamano

My Wetmore Ladies stamping group asked that we use vellum in our next class project.

Well, that's an easy request as one of my all-time favorites using vellum cardstock is the Faux Pergamano Technique.

First of all, what is Pergamano?

Pergamano (from Wikipedia): Parchment craft, also known as Pergamano, is the art of embellishing and decorating parchment paper (or vellum paper) through the use of techniques such as embossing, perforating, stippling, cutting and coloring.

Parchment craft has been predominantly used in the making of cards (religious devotional cards, greeting cards and gift cards) but the techniques are being applied to related items such as bookmarks and picture frames as well as 3-dimensional sculptural paper projects such as ornaments and boxes.

It's easy to recreate Pergamano using vellum and a stylus.

Here's how:

  1. Stamp pocket from Pocketful of Happiness on vellum card stock using White Craft ink. Heat emboss using a heat tool and white embossing powder.
  2. Cut pocket out using the Big Shot and coordinating Pocket Die.
  3. Turn the pocket to the backside and fill in the stamped images using a stylus. Turn it to the front side, and fill in the stamped images using a stylus.
  4. Stamp individual flowers on vellum card stock using White Craft ink. Heat emboss using a heat tool and white embossing powder.  Fussy cut flowers out using a pair of scissors.  Fill in the stamped images using a stylus on the front and back sides of the flowers and leaves.
  5. Rub Basic Black card front with the Embossing Buddy. Stamp greeting using White Craft ink.  Heat emboss using a heat tool and white embossing powder.
  6. Fold in edges of pocket, apply SNAIL Adhesive, and attach the pocket to the card front. Insert flowers and leaves, securing them with SNAIL Adhesive.
  7. Apply thin strip of Whisper White card stock to the top of the pocket to finish it off.
  8. Color pearls with Lovely Lipstick Stampin’ Blend and attach to card as desired.

I hope you'll give this technique a try!

Happy Easter Cards for Grandkids

Daisy punch rabbit

This is the card I made for our 3-year-old granddaughter, Madysen.

Madysen has wild bunnies or "hop, hops" as she calls them, visit her yard daily.

She's always on the lookout for them, and they bring her great joy.

For this card, I punched flowers out of various colors of card stock using the Daisy Punch.

Then, I trimmed the daisy down, leaving just two petals or hop, hop ears.

I used designs from Best Dressed 6" x 6" Designer Series Paper for the background.

I used the In the Woods landscape die and Big Shot to cut the top of the Old Olive polka dot DSP.

The greetings came from Bunny Buddies, a 2017 Paper Pumpkin kit, and were stamped using Blackberry Bliss ink and the Stamparatus.

Supplies Used:

Stamp Set: Bunny Buddies

Ink: Blackberry Bliss

Paper: Petal Pink (card base), Melon Mambo, Gorgeous Grape, Calypso Coral, Bermuda Bay, Purple Posy, Best Dressed 6" x 6" Designer Series Paper

Accessories: Daisy Punch, Big Shot, In the Woods Die, Stamparatus

Blueberry Bushel Easter

This is the card I made for our 7-month-old grandson, Ryan.

I used a variety of current and retired products.

The bunny's body and the card base were cut out using the Big Shot and circles and ovals found in Stitched Shapes Dies (current).

I used my 1 1/8 scallop circle punch (retired) to create the tail.

I cut off the bottom part of the large circle.

I placed the largest circle just above the scored piece of Blueberry Bushel card stock, making the circle the card base.

After the body parts were stamped, I embossed them using the Big Shot and Subtles Embossing Folder.

For the bunny's eyes, nose and whiskers, I used stamps found in Bunny Buddies, a March 2017 Paper Pumpkin kit.

The detail on the ears, eyebrows, feet, and bow tie were stamped using images found in Playful Pals (retired).  The bow tie was cut out using the Big Shot and coordinating Pyramid Pals Dies (retired).

I usually don't use retired product for my projects, but I saved these cute animal sets because I knew grandchildren would be on the way.

So, I hope you won't mind too much!

Supplies Used:

Stamp Sets: Bunny Buddies, Playful Pals

Ink: Basic Gray, Blueberry Bushel

Paper: Whisper White, Blueberry Bushel

Accessories: Big Shot, Stitched Shapes and Pyramid Pals Dies, 1 1/8" Scallop Circle Punch, Subtles Embossing Folder

April Showers Brings May Flowers-Sign Up for My April Newsletter

April 2020 sampler

Whew, it sure has been a trying and scary time for all of us, and with no real end in sight as I write this.

Here in the state of CO, we are on stay at home orders, so have pretty much stayed put.

Where we live is very rural, so it is easy to isolate.

Luckily, the weather has been nice, and we can enjoy the first few hints of Spring outside on our creek deck or in the garden with our dogs.

This time spent outside inspired the projects for my April Newsletter.

Ideas using the Pocketful of Happiness stamp set and coordinating Pocket Dies, along with Best Dressed 6" x 6" Designer Series Paper will be featured.

Projects include an umbrella filled with spring flowers, a pocket of sunshine on a faux denim background, and a garden glove covered in sparkly spring flowers.
