Celebrate in Style Iris Folded Dress Form

Black and Gold Iris Folded Dress Form
Celebrate in Style Iris Folded Dress Form

Recently, while going through my iris folding patterns, I came across this iris folded dress form I created way back in 2012 using some pretty black and gold designer series paper.

You can't tell from the photo, but the paper for the "iris" has a raised velvet texture.

I decided I better use it to create a quick card!

All I had to do was mat it to a piece of Gold Foil and Basic Black card stock, add a button with some sparkly thread through the button holes, mount it to a Very Vanilla card base, and stamp the greeting from Beautiful You in Memento Black ink.

Garden Impressions Iris Folded Heart

Garden Impressions Iris Folded Heart

Since I had the iris folding heart pattern out after creating my best wishes wedding card, I thought I'd make another quick iris folded heart card.

This one uses designs found in the Garden Impressions 6"x6" Designer Series Paper.

I love the abstract designs found in the collection, perfect for iris folding!

The card front is Soft Sea Foam that was embossed using the Gently Falling embossing folder.

The greeting is from retired stamp set All Holidays stamped in Night of Navy.

The ribbon is Dapper Denim Crinkled Seam Binding with an enamel shape added to the bow.

Iris Folded Heart

Ian and Kaitlyn Iris Folded Heart
Iris Folded Heart

My best friend's son is getting married!

What a great occasion to make a card!

One of my all-time favorite paper-crafting techniques is Iris Folding.

(Click HERE to view my other Iris Folding projects.   This page includes detailed instructions and a how to video!)

I haven't done any iris folding in a long time.

Lately, my Pinterest feed  has been coming up with iris folding ideas, and it got my creative juices going.

One of the easiest Iris Folding patterns in a heart.   Perfect for creating a wedding card!

Here's how:

  1. Start with this iris folding heart pattern.  Print out on your computer.
  2.  Cut out a heart from your card front using the Big Shot and framelits, a punch, or by hand with scissors.  For this card, I used my Big Shot and one of my Hearts Framelits Dies that closely fit the printed pattern.
  3. Emboss the card front if desired.  For this card, I used the hearts from Adorning Accents Embossing Folder.  Stamp your greeting.  I used Sincere Salutations stamped in Rich Razzleberry.  Do any embossing or stamping before you start the Iris Folding technique as your card front will become too bulky to do anything else without messing it up.
  4. Lay the embossed card front face down onto the printed heart pattern.  Remember, you always work from the BACK of your project when doing iris folding. Apply a couple of pieces of washi tape to one side of the card front to act as a hinge so you can flip the card front over to see your progress from the front.
  5. Choose 3 patterns of designer series paper.  For this card, I used designs found in the retired pack Blooms and Bliss.  I cut two 1/2"x12" strips of each design.
  6. Apply SNAIL adhesive along the edges of the heart cut out.  Following the pattern, apply the strips of designer series paper, adding SNAIL adhesive as needed to secure the pieces.
  7. Apply the iris to the center.  For this card, I used Blushing Bride glimmer paper.
  8. Remove the washi tape and adhere iris folded card front to Rich Razzleberry mat.
  9. Cut out a frame for the heart using 2 nested heart framelits.  I cut the frame out of more Blushing Bride glimmer paper.
  10. Attach to Blushing Bride card base.
  11. Optional: punch 2 hearts out of Rich Razzleberry card stock using a small heart punch.  Attach to the front of the card using Dimensionals to pop them up.  Add Blushing Bride enamel shapes to complete.

Supplies Used:

Stamp Set: Sincere Salutations

Ink: Rich Razzleberry

Paper: Blushing Bride, Rich Razzleberry, Whisper White, Blooms and Bliss Designer Series Paper, Blushing Bride glimmer paper

Accessories: iris folding heart pattern, Big Shot, Hearts Framelits Dies, Adorning Accents Embossing Folder, heart punch, enamel shapes, SNAIL adhesive, Dimensionals, washi tape

Dandelion Wishes Thinking of You

Dandelion Wishes Thinking of You
Dandelion Wishes Thinking of You

Unfortunately, I've needed to send out yet another sympathy card.  This is the third one in as many months.

For this card, I used my new stamp set Dandelion Wishes paired with the retired set Sincere Salutations for the greeting for a clean and simple design.

Sincere Salutations has always been one of my favorite greeting sets, and whenever I need a simple, yet elegant sentiment, I pull it out of my crafting cabinet.  It is one of my few remaining wood-mount stamp sets purchased when SU! only sold wood-mount stamps.

Dandelion Wishes, I think, will become one of my favorites too.  Lots of possibilities with its simple design.

This card was very easy to create.

A perfect 5 minute or less card!

Here's how:

  1. Stamp dandelion image using Basic Gray ink on a piece of Very Vanilla card stock measuring 3" x 2 1/2".  With a paper trimmer, cut the image into 3- 1" panels at 2" and 1".  Mount each panel to a Basic Gray mat measuring 3 1/4" x 2 3/4" using Mini Dimensionals at the top and bottom of each panel to pop them up.
  2.  Attach to a 3 3/4" x 3 1/2" piece of Very Vanilla card stock using Mini Dimensionals on the four corners to pop it up.
  3. Stamp greeting using Basic Gray ink.
  4. Attach to 4"x3 3/4" Basic Gray card base to complete.
