Woodland Embossing Folder-Nacho Average Color Challenge 156

I really like this week's Nacho Average color challenge: Blackberry Bliss, Hello Honey and Bermuda Bay.  I decided to pair the challenge up with Woodland, my new favorite embossing folder which can be found in the upcoming Holiday Catalog from Stampin' Up! on September 1.

Woodland Embossing Folder 014

For this card, I ran my Whisper White card front through the Big Shot, embossing it with the Woodland embossing folder.  I then colored in between the trees using an aqua painter and Bermuda Bay ink.  I stamped the "aspen" leaves found in the coordinating stamp set, Among the Branches. The embossing folder and stamp set are a perfect combination for my setting in southern Colorado where we are surrounded by Aspens.  They will be changing color soon matching the Hello Honey ink!

Supplies Used:

Stamp Sets: Among the Branches, Sheltering Tree

Ink: Bermuda Bay, Hello Honey, Blackberry Bliss

Paper: Delightful Dijon (sorry, I didn't realize I was totally out of Hello Honey card stock!), Blackberry Bliss and watercolor paper

Accessories: Big Shot, Woodland Textured Embossing Folder, Aqua Painter, Octagon punch (for the banner cut), Dimensionals

Wild About Flowers Acrylic Block Background-Nacho Average Challenge #156

I really like the colors for this week's Nacho Average color challenge:

NAC 156Reminds me of fall!

Here's my contribution:

Wild about flowers 010

For this card, I inked up one of my acrylic blocks by gently tapping on the challenge colors, spritzed the inks with water and stamped the block on watercolor paper.  I let it sit for a few seconds so the paper could absorb the ink.  I lifted up the block and set the paper aside to dry for a few minutes. I then stamped one of the images from Wild about Flowers using Blackberry Bliss ink.  The greeting is from Wish Big (Paper Pumpkin) and is stamped in Bermuda Bay.  Easy, easy!

Be sure to check out each of the Design Team's entries to the challenge and leave a comment if you can.  It means a lot to all of us!  We'd also love for you to play along with the weekly challenges.  A Linky Tool has been added so you can upload your creation to the Nacho Design Team site.

Supplies Used:

Stamp Sets: Wild about Flowers, Wish Big

Sneak Peek-Woodland Embossing Folder

Oh my!  When I opened up my copy of the Stampin' Up! Holiday Catalog and saw the new Woodland Textured Embossing Folder, I just knew I had to have it!  It is perfect for my setting in the mountains of southern Colorado.  The leaves are from the coordinating stamp set, Among the Branches. They were the first things I ordered on my demonstrator pre-order.  You'll be able to order them too beginning September first.

Woodland Embossing Folder 007

I used this week's Nacho Average sketch as my inspiration.

To get the shading on the trees, I sponged Soft Suede ink on the inside of the embossing folder, then ran it through the Big Shot.  A nice fall-themed card!

Stamp Set: Among the Branches (available Sept 1 in the Holiday Catalog)

Ink: Tangelo Twist, Delightful Dijon, Always Artichoke,  Soft Suede

Paper: Always Artichoke, Very Vanilla

Accessories: Woodland Textured Impression Embossing Folder (available Sept 1 in the Holiday Catalog), Big Shot, Expressions Natural Elements,  Crushed Curry Baker's Twine, sponge dauber, Mini Glue Dots

Blended Bloom Floating Watercolor-Nacho Average Challenge #155

I hope you'll check out this week's sketch challenge over at the Nacho Average site!

Here's my contribution:

Blended Bloom 007

This fall inspired card uses the Floating Watercolor technique and the stamp set Blended Bloom.

The Floating Watercolor technique is very easy to do and is one of those WOW projects.

For this card, I did the Floating Watercolor technique slightly different.  Instead of spritzing the whole piece of card stock with water, I used my aqua painter to only add water to each of the embossed flowers.  Then, when the watercolor paper was good and wet, I added the drops of ink using the tip of the aqua painter.  This way, the ink would spread within the edges of the embossing, and not end up outside of the flowers.

Before starting the Floating Watercolor technique, I stamped the greeting with Chocolate Chip ink, then heat embossed using clear embossing powder.  I wanted to place the flowers around the greeting, but didn't want to take a chance of the greeting smearing while I worked with the water.  After the watercolor paper had dried, I stamped the speckles from Gorgeous Grunge using Cajun Craze and Crushed Curry inks.

Here's the sketch:

For the Garden-Hand Scrub Gift Idea

I made these Garden Hand Scrubs as thank you gifts for attendees at a recent class.  Everyone in the group likes to garden, so I knew they would be appreciated.

Garden Scrub 001

I got the idea from Janet Holmes, and she graciously shared the recipe:

Dawn Ultra Hand Renewal with Olay Dishwashing liquid and sugar.  That's it!

I filled jelly mason jars 2/3 full of sugar, then topped it with dishwashing liquid. I stirred it really well to mix in the sugar.

The soap is Pomegranate Splash.  It looks pretty and smells good too.  It reminded me of Stampin' Up!'s color Blushing Bride.

Blushing Bride is part of this week's Nacho Average color challenge:

Blushing Bride, Mint Macaron and Melon Mambo

So, I thought I'd continue on with the decorating using this color combination.

I used My Digital Studio to create the label on the top.  I know SU! is no longer supporting MDS, but I still use it a lot.  I created several Blushing Bride circles, then added the text in Melon Mambo.  I printed the circles on full sheet label paper.  Once printed, I punched the circles out using my 1 3/8" circle punch.  I stamped the succulent image from the Paper Pumpkin kit "Thanks a Latte" in Mint Macaron.  Then I simply peeled the backing off the label and added it to the top of the jar.

Garden Scrub 003

I wrapped some Melon Mambo ribbon I had in my stash around the lid and added a tag punched out of Blushing Bride card stock using my 1" circle punch.  I stamped the "thanks" greeting from Another Thank You in Melon Mambo ink and the succulent again in Mint Macaron.  It tied it to the ribbon using Linen Thread.

Garden Scrub 014

For the back, I wrote the ingredients on the label that came with the jelly jars.

Paper: Blushing Bride

Accessories: My Digital Studio, 1 3/8", 1" and 1/8" circle punches, Melon Mambo scallop edged ribbon, Linen Thread, Mini Glue Dots, jelly jars, sugar Dawn Ultra Hand Renewal with Olay Dishwashing Liquid

Wild About Flowers Mint Macaron and Perfect Plum

Wild about Flowers 006

I used this week's Nacho Average sketch challenge to create this card using the stamp sets Wild About You and Sheltering Tree (greeting).  These flowers remind me of the Bachelor Buttons I have blooming in my garden.  I love the color combo of Mint Macaron and Wild Plum!

Paint Chip Wild About Flowers-Nacho Average Challenge #153

We have a simple sketch this week over at the Nacho Average challenge site.

Here's my contribution:

Wild about flowers 002

I like to stroll the paint aisles at our local home improvement store for interesting paint chips that I can craft with.  Recently, I picked up several that had different shades of purples and lilacs. The names of the 3 colors on this chip are Plash of Lilac (yes, that is spelled correctly), Twirling Girl and Ash Violet.  What fun it would be to be charge of naming the paint chips!

Anyway,I thought this one would work perfectly with my new stamp set Wild About Flowers.  This particular image found in the set  reminds me of the thistle we have growing and blooming on our property.

This was my inspiration for the card.

I have found that the slick surface of the paint chips does not hold dye ink very well.  I found it is best to heat emboss the image to get a clearer image.  So, for this card, I Two-Step stamped the leaves and the flowers using Garden Green and Blackberry Bliss ink, then heat embossed using clear embossing powder.   The greeting is from Sheltering Tree.

Here is the original sketch:
