Work of Art "Sweet" Popsicle Card

I'm having such fun creating using the Work of Art stamp set.  I used it to make a "sweet" watermelon card shared on July 28 for the Nacho Average Color Challenge #152.  The challenge colors are Cucumber Crush, Crushed Curry and Watermelon Wonder.  I decided to continue on with the challenge and make this "sweet" popsicle card.

Work of Art 005

To create the popsicle, I stamped  the "swoosh" image from Work of Art full strength at the bottom of my 3 1/2" x 2" Whisper White card stock using Watermelon Wonder ink.  Then I continued stamping up the piece without reinking.  I rounded the corners using my corner rounder punch and used my scallop circle punch to create the bite mark.  I sponged on Watermelon Wonder ink along the bite and around the edges.  To create the stick, I used the long, narrow image in the stamp set inked up in Cucumber Crush and stamped on a piece of scrap Whisper White card stock.  I then punched it out using my Word Window punch.  The bottom half of the card front is embossed using the Stripes Embossing Folder and Big Shot. This embossing folder is retired, but any in the current catalog would work (dots, stars, stripes). The greeting "sweet" comes from one of my favorite retired stamp sets, Sweet Shapes.  Alternate current stamp sets could be You're So Sweet and Six Sided Sampler.

Work of Art 008

For this card I used the stamp set Work of Art create a "sweet" slice of watermelon, perfect for summer!  I recently purchased this stamp set, and I know I am late to the party for this very versatile set!  Not sure why I waited so long, but I'm glad I now have it in my collection.

Clear Block Stamping- Serene Silhouettes

Shimmer Block 003

To create a multi-colored background, tap different color inks onto a clear block.  Spritz the ink with water and stamp onto a piece of Whisper White card stock or water color paper.  Let it set for a moment or two, then lift.  Let the inks blend into each other and then set aside to dry before stamping your image.  This is a great technique for creating landscapes.

Stamp Sets: Serene Silhouettes, Teeny Tiny Wishes

Ink: Tuxedo Black, Island Indigo, Marina Mist, Calypso Coral and Hello Honey

Paper: Basic Black, Whisper White

Accessories: Clear block D, spritzer bottle with water

Watercolor Sheltering Tree-Nacho Average Color Challenge #150

This week's color challenge over at the Nacho Average site is Calypso Coral, Mint Macaron and Pacific Point.

Here's my contribution:

Sheltering Tree 061

For the challenge, I decided to create a landscape scene of a field of Calypso Coral poppies on a bright, sunny day using watercolor paper, an aqua painter, and the stamp set Sheltering Tree.

I brushed on the sky and field using an aqua painter and Pacific Point and Mint Macaron inks on a small piece of watercolor paper.  While the paper was still wet, I stamped the grass and flowers using the images from Sheltering Tree and Mint Macaron and Calypso Coral inks.  I then lightly stamped the speckles from Gorgeous Grunge using Pacific Point and Mint Macaron inks.  To complete the landscape, I dotted the centers of the flowers using an Early Espresso marker.

I love how this card turned out!  I almost feel like an watercolor painter!

Anything But a Card Swap Shares

The theme for the June Sunday Stamp Club swap was "anything but a card."  I love this theme as it gives people a chance to think outside of the box.  Here's what the talented members of the Club came up with!

Wetmore Landscape 2015 796

Nikki made  yard art using roof flashing, dove die and Big Shot.  This one is watching over a pot of flowers on my porch!

Anything But a Card Swap 002

Jeanette made this sweet tea cup out of Tempting Turquoise card stock. The polka dots are punched out of label paper so they stick to the card stock without any glue needed.  Brilliant!  Inside the cup is a nice note with a tea bag.

Anything But a Card Swap 003

Judy made this cute holder for lip balm or lip stick using the Big Shot and Dress Up die.

Anything But a Card Swap 005

Debbie made this box, perfect for storing embossing folders.  See, it is already in use!

Anything But a Card Swap 007

Denise our expert seamstress in the group made this beautiful tissue holder out of retired Stampin' Up! fabric and her embroidery machine.  She said it takes her machine about 2 hours to do the embroidery for each one!  Each was different, and mine has purple embroidery since she knows I like purple!

Anything But a Card Swap 010

Monica made refrigerator magnets out of chalk board place mats and spiral cut flowers. Lots of room for writing notes!

Lavender Sachets 006

And last but not least, I made lavender sachets.  See my posting here for more information.

Stained Glass Butterfly-Color Me Irresistible Designer Series Paper

I featured the Tie Dyed background for my stained glass butterfly in my posting dated 06/30/15.

For today's card, I used a technique that is a little less messy and quicker to dry than the Tie Dyed background technique.  But, it still provides a pop of color behind the butterfly with the look of stained glass!

Butterfly Thinlits 020

For this background, I simply used the Color Me Irresistible Specialty Designer Series Paper found in the new 2015-2016 Stampin' Up! Annual Catalog.  Simply sponge color onto the sheets, and the patterns will pop!  Couldn't be any easier than that!
