Chalkboard Bokeh-Nacho Average Sketch Challenge #135

This week, we have a sketch challenge over at the Nacho Average challenge site.

Here's my contribution:

Bokeh 067

For some reason, I really struggled with this sketch.  I just couldn't seem to get the two horizontal strips of paper to look right.  Everything I did just seemed forced.  So, I took another route.  I let the placement of the words satisfy the placement on the sketch.

For this card, I did the Bokeh technique using white craft ink and the ColorBox Chalk Ink pads found in the Occasions Catalog.  The Bokeh technique is one of my all-time favorites, and I love the mix of colors and ink on this card.

I first made a circles template out of card stock using my 1" and 1 1/4" circle punches.  Then, I stenciled in the circles on chalkboard paper using a sponge dauber and white craft ink.  I then used sponge daubers without the stencil to fill in the spaces using the chalk and white craft inks. While the inks were still wet, I heat embossed them with clear embossing powder.  I was afraid the chalk inks would fade a little, and I wanted the colors to stay bright.  The greeting is Wish Big from a My Paper Pumpkin kit.  It was stamped on a piece of window sheet using white Stazon ink.

Here is the original sketch:

My Paper Pumpkin Layers of Gratitude

My Paper Pumpkin 254

I recently held a class for the Ladies of Wetmore and wanted to give them each a fun thank you card.  I opened up my February My Paper Pumpkin kit which featured this fun accordion folded "thanks" card.  Perfect! With this kit, I created 6 cards quickly!

My guests "ooh'd and awe'd" over them.  They were a BIG hit!

My Paper Pumpkin Filled With Love Easter Bunny Treat Bags

My Paper Pumpkin 257

I recently held a stamping class for 12 and needed a quick and easy thank you gift to give to my class attendees.  I got out the My Paper Pumpkin kit from January called Filled with Love.  Originally the kit was to be used to create Valentine's Day treat bags and included heart shaped embellishments and stamps.  Since I didn't use the kit for Valentine's Day gifts, I knew I could use it for Easter themed bags.  Instead of hearts, I punched flowers using my Pansy punch out of the colors in the tags and banners in the kit (Blushing Bride, Real Red, Whisper White).  I inserted small chocolate bunnies in each of the bags. Their wrappers also matched the colors in the kit! The kit comes with 24 cellophane bags, and I only used 12.  So, there are plenty left over for using for another theme as needed!

Blushing Bride, So Saffron and Pool Party.  Feels like spring!

Dahlia Fold Friend to Friend-Nacho Average Sketch #133

Time for a sketch challenge this week over at the Nacho Average site.

Here's my contribution:

Dahlia Fold 001

For this card, I created a Dahlia Fold flower made using Back to Black Designer Series Paper.

This site has good instructions on how to do the dahlia fold.

For the petals, you'll need to punch 9 circles out of Designer Series Paper or card stock (Designer Series Paper is a little easier to fold), and 1 larger circle out of card stock (Basic Black on mine) to use as the base to build your flower.  I used my 1-1/4" circle punch for the petals and my 1 3/4" circle punch for the base.  After you've folded your petals, apply glue onto the 1 3/4" circle base and arrange the petals, meeting the points of each at the center of the base.  You may have to adjust the petals to fit side by side and to fill in any gaps.  Use a color that is found in your Designer Series Paper as your base so if there are any small gaps, they won't be noticeable.

Whole Lot of Wonderful Wildflower Meadow

I don't know about you, but I am so ready for spring and warmer temps!  I created this spring-themed card recently to help get myself out of the winter doldrums.  Can't wait to see the hummers again!

Wildflower Meadow 018

For this one, I heat embossed the image from Wildflower Meadow using Versamark and white embossing powder.  I then ran it through the Big Shot and embossed it using the coordinating Wildflower Meadow embossing folder.  Easy, easy!

Gold Butterfly-Nacho Average Color Challenge #132

Our color challenge this week over at the Nacho Average site is Gold, Garden Green and Pear Pizzazz.

Here's my contribution:

Butterflies Thinlits 023

For this card, I cut out 2 butterflies using my Big Shot and Butterfly Thinlits die.  One was cut out of Garden Green card stock, the other was cut out of Gold Soiree Designer Series Paper.  Then I layered one on top of the other using a Dimensional, giving the card a little 3D effect.

Painted Blooms and Vellum Mini Treat Bag Envelope

I'm loving the new Mini Treat Bag Thinlit Dies found in the Stampin' Up! Occasions Catalog. Use them to create your own mini treat bags, as many as you want, in the colors and patterns you want. Also great for notes or gift cards.  I highlighted a pretty piece of Painted Blooms Designer Series Paper by creating a see-through envelope using the Mini Treat Bag die and vellum card stock.  Can't get any easier than this!

Ray of Sunshine and Painted Blooms-Nacho Average Sketch #131

It's sketch time this week over at the Nacho Average challenge site!

Here's my contribution:

Ray of Sunshine 009

I must admit I wasn't too keen on this week's sketch, but after I put it all together, I really like how it turned out.  I let the Painted Blooms Designer Series Paper do most of the work with the pretty tulips on the bottom and sky background on the top.  I added some clouds to the Soft Sky DSP by sponging on some Marina Mist ink around a punched scallop template.

Click HERE to view a video tutorial on how to make a cloudy background.

The greeting is from Ray of Sunshine stamped on Whisper White and then punched out using  a 1 1/4" circle punch.  It is layered onto a starburst piece of yellow DSP cut from Painted Blooms using the Big Shot and Starburst Framelits.  That is layered on a Rose Red circle punched out using a 2" circle punch.

Here's the original sketch:
