Tangled Pumpkin-Happy Halloween

Happy Halloween!

Zentangle 036

Stamp Set: Good Greetings

Ink: Uni-Ball Deluxe Fine pen, Tangelo Twist

Paper: Basic Black, Tangelo Twist, Bristol Vellum

Tangle patterns: Beelight, Cheesecloth and Cadent

Pumpkin was drawn free hand.  Whew!  That was the toughest part of this project as I am terrible at drawing!  Had to surf the internet to get instructions on how to draw a pumpkin.

White Christmas Snowman-Nacho Average Challenge #113

We have a fun sketch this week over at the Nacho Average challenge site.

Here's my contribution:

White Christmas 002

For this card, I used the White Christmas photopolymer stamp set found in the Holiday Catalog.  I love the trees in this set, plus all the little images that are included to help build a little winter scene: snowman, deer, bear, birds and snowflakes.  It even has a car with a cut Christmas tree tied to the top that if colored just right, looks just like my own car, a red and black Mini Countryman.  It is a perfect stamp set for my surroundings here in the mountains of SW Colorado!  Creating a snowy scene using any of the images could be exactly what I could see and have seen right out my living room window!

Here's the original sketch:

Ink: Tuxedo Black Memento, Garden Green, various markers

Bright and Beautiful-Nacho Average Color Challenge #112

This week, our color challenge over at the Nacho Average site is Basic Black, Bermuda Bay and Crushed Curry.

Here's my contribution:

Bright and Beautiful 014

For this one,  I used my Big Shot and Stars Framelits to create a star shaped card.  The trick to creating the star card is to place the Star Framelit just above the score line of the base of the card and then running it through the Big Shot.  This way, you will get a star that folds in half instead of two separate cut stars.

Be sure to check out each of the Design Team's entries to the challenge and leave a comment if you can.  It means a lot to all of us!  We'd also love for you to play along with the weekly challenges.  A Linky Tool has been added so you can upload your creation to the Nacho Design Team site.

Supplies:

Stamp Set: Bright and Beautiful

Ink: Crushed Curry, Black Stazon

Paper: Basic Black, Bermuda Bay, Crushed Curry, vellum card stock

Accessories: Big Shot, Star Framelits, Embossing Buddy, heat tool, clear embossing powder, ribbon, Mini Glue Dots

Iris Folded Stellar Jay

Iris Folding 080

I'm on a Iris Folding roll!  I found this great Cardinal pattern created by Aga Piechocińska on Pinterest and knew I had to give it a try.  Although the pattern was originally a Cardinal, we don't have Cardinals here in the mountains of SW Colorado.  We do have Stellar Blue Jays though.  The pattern works perfectly for both!

I used several different Designer Series Papers.  Some are retired, some are not.

Be sure to visit my Iris Folding Page HERE for more ideas, instructions and patterns, plus a how to Iris Folding video tutorial.

Supplies Used:

Stamp Set: Good Greetings

Ink: Island Indigo

Paper: Island Indigo, Soft Suede, Whisper White, Crisp Cantaloupe, various Designer Series Papers

Accessories: Big Shot, Polka Dots Embossing Folder, Word Window, Modern Label and Bird Builder punches, candy dots, Dimensionals

Iris Folded Happy Birthday Present

It seems like a long time since I've done any Iris Folding.  Since it is one of my all-time favorite crafting techniques, I thought I'd get out my Iris Folding patterns and pretty Designer Series Paper and see what I could come up with.

Iris Folding 075

Since it has been awhile, I thought I'd start off with an easy square Iris Folding pattern to create this sparkly wrapped gift box.  I used my Big Shot and one of my Squares Framelits to cut out the center of the Pistachio Pudding card front.  Easy, easy!

For more Iris Folding ideas, instructions, patterns and how to video, please visit my Iris Folding page HERE.

Stamp Set: Good Greetings

Another Corner Bookmark with Scrunchy Flower

Here's a fall-themed corner bookmark with a scrunchy flower.  This is the one we created at my September Sunday Stamp Club.  Our Hostess wanted to learn how to make the scrunchy flower featured on page 46 of the annual Stampin' Up! catalog.  I decided we'd make a bookmark to showcase the flower instead of a card.  I think the ladies liked the project!

For instructions on how to make the bookmark and the scrunchy flower, please visit my posting HERE.

Paper: Soft Suede, Cajun Craze, Color Me Autumn Designer Series Paper

Accessories: 1 ¼” Scallop Circle Punch, Paper Piercing Tool and Mat, brad, Fringe Scissors, Tombow All Purpose Glue, scotch tape, Sticky Strip, Simply Scored Tool and Diagonal Score Board

Corner Bookmark with Scrunchy Flower-Nacho Average Color Challenge #110

We have a soft and pretty color challenge this week over at the Nacho Average Challenge site:

Calypso Coral, Crisp Cantaloupe and Pistachio Pudding.

Here's my contribution:

Corner bookmark 010

I decided to change things up a little bit by creating a simple corner bookmark out of Pistachio Pudding card stock and adding a pretty Calypso Coral scrunchy flower.  This is a quick and simple gift idea that allows you to use up some of your paper scraps!

Here's How:

  1. Cut Pistachio Pudding base for bookmark to measure 3” x 3”.
  2. Using the Diagonal Score Board, score at 1 ½”.  Flip the base over and score other side at 1 ½”.
  3. Fold scored corners down to form a triangle. Place a piece of scotch tape over the flaps to keep them closed.
  4. Cut another piece of card stock to 2 1/16” x 2 1/16” and cut in half on the diagonal.  Adhere one of these triangles over the area where the two flaps meet to create a more finished look on the back.
  5. Stamp Bordering Blooms on piece of Whisper White card stock using Crisp Cantaloupe ink.  Attach piece to the front of the bookmark.
  6. To create scrunchy flower:

-Punch 6 flowers using the 1 ¼” Scallop Circle Punch out of card stock or Designer Series Paper.

-Scrunch each scallop circle into a ball and then open up.  If you are using card stock, you may want to spritz the scallops with a little bit of water to help soften them up.  Let dry, and then open them up.

-Using the Paper Piercing Tool and Mat, pierce a hole in the center of each scallop circle.

-Insert a brad through each hole, forming the flower.

-Place a small strip of Sticky Strip to the underside of the flower.  Peel off the red backing and apply to the front of the bookmark.

-Use the fringe scissors to cut fringe on a piece of card stock or Designer Series Paper.  Roll the strip and adhere the end using Tombow All Purpose Glue. Hold roll for a few seconds to let glue dry.

TIP: Be sure to place the paper all the way into the fringe scissors for cutting.  If you use the tips of the scissors, you will end up cutting the fringe off.

-Place a small amount of Tombow All Purpose Glue to the center of the flower and attach the rolled fringe.  Set aside to let the glue dry.

-Open up the fringe as desired.  Scrunch or open up the scallop circles as desired.

Perfect Peacock-Happy World Card Making Day

World Card Making Day is Saturday, October 4!  Whatever your day brings, I hope you will take some time to create!

Here's what I created for World Card Making Day:

Perfect Peacock 004

For this card I colored the new Perfect Peacock stamp with Tempting Turquoise, Old Olive and Daffodil Delight Blendabilities. Beautiful!

I must admit that I wasn't sure about this stamp at first because of all the coloring.  I wasn't a big fan of coloring until recently.  With the introduction of the Blendabilities alcohol markers, my attitude towards coloring has totally changed!  The Blendabilities make coloring so easy and the effect is so pretty.  Now, I find that I can sit at my craft table with some music playing in the background and color for hours. I find myself getting lost in the coloring.  Wow!  And this stamp set is so beautiful and elegant.

Enjoy!

Supplies Used:

Stamp Set: Perfect Peacock

Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black

Accessories: Tempting Turquoise, Old Olive, Daffodil Delight Blendabilities, Color Lifter, Dimensionals
