Bordering Blooms Happy Birthday-Nacho Average Challenge #109

We have an interesting sketch this week over at the Nacho Average Challenge site.

Here's my contribution:

Bordering Blooms 002

For this card, I used Bordering Blooms, my new photopolymer set.  Love the ease of using this set.  The line image flower and solid flower stamps are aligned perfectly so it is easy to stamp one image inside the other.  Place the line image stamp on a clear block and stamp.  Then, place the solid flower stamp on a clear block, line it up with the 1st image and stamp.  Two-step stamping at its easiest!

Here's the original sketch:

Stamp Sets: Bordering Blooms, Sassy Salutations

Blendabilities Storage Box

Create this storage box to hold your Blendabilties,Memento Pad and Color Lifter!

Blendabilities 013

This is the first storage case I created for myself.  Love it!

Blendabilities 020

And this is the 2nd storage case I created for a customer.  She was very pleased to receive it!

A few words about this project:
The pattern for the storage box was created by Bev Adams, and the instructions were created by her.

Please click here for Bev's instructions as a pdf file.

I found an error on the "Outer Wrapping Back Support."  Step 18 says "turn to landscape and score at 2 3/8" and 6 1/4".  This should read, turn to PORTRAIT and score at 2 3/8" and 6 1/4".
I tried to convert her pdf to make this correction and was unable to.

This project is a little time consuming, but not difficult to do.  It is basically making boxes.  You will become good at making boxes by the time you are finished!

It uses a lot of card stock (11 sheets of 8 1/2 x 11) and a lot of Sticky Strip.  I used SNAIL Adhesive for parts of the construction, but for the most part, I used Sticky Strip.  You need the extra strength of the Sticky Strip to hold it all together.

Bev's instructions calls for the use of Coaster Board.  This is adhered to the bottom of each of the marker boxes to give them support.  I used the light-weight cardboard that comes with the packets of Designer Series Paper instead.  Each piece measures 3 1/2 x 4 1/2.  You will use 1 full sheet of the 12 x 12 packaging for 6, plus a piece of a 2nd sheet for the 7th.

Let me know if you have any questions.  Have fun!

For this card, I used Bright and Beautiful, one of the new stamp sets found in the Stampin' Up! Holiday Catalog.  The words are separate stamps.  I mounted them together on a clear block for easy line by line stamping.  Perfect for the sketch:

Walk in the Wild Card in a Box

Recently, I needed a masculine birthday card, so I thought I'd make a quick card in a box using the moose image in the Walk in the Wild stamp set and the pine trees from Lovely as a Tree.

Card in a Box 054

Some fussy cutting on this one since their isn't a die or punch for the trees or the moose.  But it's not too bad, and it is so worth the extra effort!

Stamp Sets: Walk on the Wild Side, Lovely as a Tree, Teeny Tiny Wishes

Ink: Early Espresso, Mossy Meadow, Soft Suede, Lost Lagoon, Sky Blue, Marina Mist, Smoky Slate, Crushed Curry

Paper: Soft Suede, Lost Lagoon, Whisper White, Park Avenue Designer Series Paper

Accessories: Scoring/cutting tool, Blender Pens, sponges, Word Window and Modern Label punches, Dimensionals, Sticky Strip, cloud template

No Line Watercolor Mixed Bunch-Nacho Average Challenge #106

This week's Nacho Average color challenge is Coastal Cabana, Crisp Cantaloupe and Daffodil Delight.

Here's my contribution:

Mixed Bunch 008

For this card, I used a new watercolor technique I learned from Nichole Heady over at Inspired Papertrey Ink.  She calls it the No Line Watercolor Technique, and it is so simple to do.  You will need watercolor paper and an Aquapainter or brush.  First, stamp an image in a light ink.  For my card, I used one of the flowers in the Mixed Bunch Stamp set stamped in Daffodil Delight ink.  Then, with your Aquapainter, pick up more ink and fill in the stamped image.  Continue to add more color as desired.  For my card, I used Crisp Cantaloupe to fill in the flower.  You can still see the outline of the original stamped image.  I added a touch of Daffodil Delight ink mixed with a little bit of Crisp Cantaloupe to fill in around the flower image.  I then added some Coastal Cabana ink.  I also stamped the speckles from the Gorgeous Grunge stamp set in Coastal Cabana ink.  Love this technique!

Be sure to check out each of the Design Team's entries to the challenge and leave a comment if you can.  It means a lot to all of us!  We'd also love for you to play along with the weekly challenges.  A Linky Tool has been added so you can upload your creation to the Nacho Design Team site.

Supplies Used:

Stamp Sets: Mixed Bunch, Gorgeous Grunge, Sincere Salutations

Ink: Coastal Cabana, Crisp Cantaloupe, Daffodil Delight, Memento Tuxedo Black

Paper: Crisp Cantaloupe, Coastal Cabana, watercolor paper

Accessories: Aquapainter, Coastal Cabana button, twine from this year's Sale-A-Bration-I think it is Summer Starfruit, but it's close enough to Daffodil Delight :)
