Project Life Everyday Adventure-Nacho Average Challenge #95

We have a fun sketch this week over at the Nacho Average Challenge site.

Here's my contribution:

Project Life 001

For this card, I used one of the 100 cards that comes in the Everyday Adventure Project Life Card Collection.  Have you seen these?  Oh my, if you haven't, you need to check them out (pages 188 and 189 in the new catalog). The collection comes in its own little box and is filled with 100 double-sided, color coordinated cards in 3 sizes: 4" x  6", 4" x 4" and 3" x 4".  Each card brings its own possibilities!

As I was admiring the selection of cards, I came across this bright and cheery circle one and knew it would be perfect for this sketch challenge.  All I needed to do was add the flowers to the white circle and stamp a greeting in the Crushed Curry box.  The flowers were punched using the Petite Petals punch and the small flower punch from Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack.  The smaller flowers are popped up on the larger flowers using Dimensionals for a little dimension.  The greeting is from Says it All.  And Candy Dots were added for an additional pop of color.  I mounted the card on a 4" x 4" Whisper White card base. The Project Life card did most of the work for me.  I just had to add a couple of elements and I was done!

Watercolor Poppies

Here's a little different take on my Masked Pleasant Poppies card posted HERE.

Watercolor Poppies 027

This card was my swap card for a recent Stamp Club.  Our Hostess wanted the theme to be "flowers with a touch of bling!"

I used the same technique for my Masked Pleasant Poppies card, but with a change of colors.  I also used watercolor paper instead of regular card stock.

I started by making a square mask out of a piece of computer paper using the Big Shot and a square framelit. I placed the mask on my watercolor paper card front, securing it with a little bit of temporary adhesive.  I then stamped the Pleasant Poppies and the speckles from Gorgeous Grunge using Versamark and heat embossed using Early Espresso embossing powder.  Once embossed, I simply added the colors Daffodil Delight, Pumpkin Pie, Crisp Cantaloupe, Marina Mist, Soft Sky and Gumball Green using an Aqua Painter.  After a little blending, I removed the mask and stamped the greeting.  I also added a butterfly punched out of Champagne Glimmer paper for the touch of bling in the swap theme!

Supplies Used:

Stamp Sets: Pleasant Poppies, Teeny Tiny wishes, Gorgeous Grunge

Ink: Daffodil Delight, Pumpkin Pie, Crisp Cantaloupe, Marina Mist, Soft Sky, Gumball Green, Versamark

Paper: Marina Mist, Champagne Glimmer and watercolor paper

Accessories: Aqua Painter, heat tool, Early Espresso embossing powder, Big Shot, Squares Framelits, Bitty Butterly punch, Mini Glue Dot

Papillon Potpourri-Nacho Average Sketch Challenge #93

We have another fun sketch this week over at the Nacho Average challenge site.

Here's my contribution:

Papillon potpourri 010

For this card, I used my new favorite stamp set, Papillon Potpourri.  It took me awhile to convince myself that I really needed it, and I'm glad that I did!  I stamped the butterfly images on vellum card stock using Versamark ink, then heat embossed with white embossing powder.  I punched them out using the coordinating Elegant Butterfly punch.  They are popped up on 1 1/4" circles of Venetian Romance Designer Series Paper.  Easy, easy!

Here's the original sketch.  Oops, I just realized that I forgot to add the ribbon along the side.  I was working with the sketch from memory and obviously didn't remember there was a strip of ribbon.  It'll be ok....

Dandelion Flower Stamping-Nacho Average Color Challenge #92

Our color challenge this week over at the Nacho Average challenge site is Island Indigo, Perfect Plum and Crushed Curry.

Here is my contribution:

  Flower stamping 067

The Crushed Curry in the challenge reminded me of dandelions.  So, this card was inspired by all the dandelions that are in full bloom around our property.  I know dandelions are usally considered weeds, but they earned my respect after a trip my Mom and I made to Russia in the spring of 2006.  We saw yellow as far as the eye could see in fields that were covered in dandelions. It was really beautiful.  Now when I see dandelions in my own yard, it takes me back to that adventure with my Mom.

To make this card, I started by adding a couple of drops of Crushed Curry reinker into the lid of a button/brad container.  I dabbed my cut dandelion in the ink and simply stamped on a piece of watercolor paper.  As I stamped, I got these little Crushed Curry speckles coming off the petals.  So, I added a few Perfect Plum speckles by picking up ink with a pair of tweezers and then dotting the tips on the paper.
