Thinking of You Paint Chip Card-CASology "Paint" Challenge

Our CASology cue word this week is "Paint."

CASology Honorable Mention

Paint Chips 009

I love crafting with paint chips and thought this project would work perfectly with this week's cue word.

I started with a paint chip that I picked up at our local home improvement store.  The colors are mauves and peaches.  Not sure I'd want them on my wall, but they are pretty for crafting.  In fact, one of the colors on the chip is called "Panic."  Another one is "Mischief."  Who comes up with these names?

Anyway, I simply cut the chip into 1/4" wide strips and mounted them on a square piece of card stock that I had covered with adhesive.  I cut off the ends to use for the next row so the colors pretty much are in the order found on the paint chip.  Once done, I mounted it on a piece of black matting.

To keep the card a one layer card, I cut out a square from the front of the card base using my Big Shot and a square framelit.  The black matting is actually mounted on the inside of the front of the card.

Paint chips, so many possibilities....

Supplies Used:

Stamp Set: Sincere Salutations

Ink: Basic Black

Paper: Whisper White, Basic Black

Accessories: paint chips, Big Shot, Squares Framelits, Bitty Butterfly punch, Mini Glue Dot, rhinestone

Gorgeous Grunge-Nacho Average Sketch Challenge #77

We have a "banner" sketch this week over at the Nacho Average challenge site.

Here's my contribution:

Gorgeous Grunge 014

I struggled with this sketch because I really am not fond of the banner trend.  So, I changed it up a bit so I had to actually cut only 2 banners!  The background is from Gorgeous Grunge, one of my favorite stamp sets.

Here's the original sketch:

Happy Birthday Petal Parade-Nacho Average Color Challenge #76

Our color challenge over at the Nacho Average site this week is Blushing Bride, Very Vanilla and Basic Black.

Here's my contribution:

Petal Parade 004

Honestly, Blushing Bride is not a color I have in my paper stash.  I don't mind it.  I just don't ever find a use for it.  (The color reminds me of Calamine lotion-remember that as a kid?)  So, I was kind of worried when I saw this color challenge.  Then I remembered I have a pack of the Subtles Core'dinations paper which includes Blushing Bride!  So, that is what I used.  I didn't sand it to make it looked distressed because I liked just the simple texture.  In the end, I really like this color combo.  The flower image is from Petal Parade, one of this year's Sale-A-Bration choices.

Be sure to check out each of the Design Team's entry to the challenge and leave a comment if you can.  It means a lot to all of us!  We'd also love for you to play along with the weekly challenges.  A Linky Tool has been added so you can upload your creation to the Nacho Design Team site.

Supplies Used:

Stamp Sets: Petal Parade, Teeny Tiny Wishes

Ink: Basic Black

Paper: Blushing Bride Core'dinations, Basic Black, Very Vanilla

Accessories: 1 3/4" circle punch, rhinestone

Distressed Ampersand-CASology "And" Challenge

"And" is our cue word this week over at the CASology challenge site.

Here's my contribution:

Ampersan 014

For this card, I used my new Ampersand embossing folder and Cherry Cobbler Core'dinations Paper.  Once the Core'dinations paper was embossed, I lightly sanded it using a sanding block.  The sanding distresses the embossed image.  Looks like corduroy, and it has a nice soft feel to it.

Supplies Used:

Paper: Crumb Cake, Cherry Cobbler Core'dinations Textured paper

Accessories: Big Shot, Ampersand Embossing Folder, sanding block, computer to generate greetings

Split Negative Pleasant Poppies-Nacho Average Sketch Challenge #75

Week 75 and we have a sketch challenge over at the Nacho Average site!

Here's my contribution:

Pleasant Poppies 012

For this card, I used the tried and true Split Negative Technique.

I simply stamped the Pleasant Poppies background stamp onto my piece of Basic Black card base using Versamark ink.  I heat embossed the entire image using white embossing powder. I stamped the image again on a piece of Whisper White card stock using Versamark ink and heat embossed it using black embossing powder.  Then, I simply cut the Whisper White piece down and lined it up with the images on the Basic Black.  Easy, easy!  Be sure to swipe your Embossing Buddy over the card stock before stamping and embossing.

I originally thought I'd color in the center poppies using Cherry Cobbler and Wild Wasabi markers, but I really like the clean and simple black and white.

Here's the original sketch:
