We have a fun challenge this week over at the Nacho Average challenge site.

Here's my contribution:

Gift Bow 001

I used my brand new Gift Bow Bigz Die and Big Shot to cut out this holiday bow.  What fun, and it is so easy to use.  The die cuts out the pieces you need, and it comes with easy to follow instructions.  The bow comes together in literally less than 2 minutes.  The hardest part is picking out the paper to use!

Here's the original sketch:

November My Paper Pumpkin-Noel

I love receiving My Paper Pumpkin kit in the mail every month.  I like being able to create a project that is already designed for me and includes all the items needed in just a matter of moments.  I think my favorite project so far is November's kit which is this pretty Noel card.

My Paper Pumpkin 226

The kit comes with the Noel stamp set (greeting and star), a Real Red Classic Stampin' spot, 4 scored Real Red/Very Vanilla printed card bases, 4 printed, die-cut accents, 4 pieces of stitched paper-star garlands, 4 envelopes and Stampin' Dimensionals.  Everything you need to create 4 fun cards in a matter of minutes!

I had lots of garland pieces left over, so I made these two quick cards using Real Red and Very Vanilla card stock from my stash.

Warmth and Wonder Trees with Bling

Our challenge this week over at the Merry Monday site is to create "Trees with Bling."

Here's my contribution:

Warmth and Wonder 032

For this card, I created a circle stencil out of scrap card stock using my 2 1/2" circle punch.  I laid the stencil on another scrap piece of Whisper White card stock and sponged on some Pacific Point, Marina Mist and Soft Sky inks.  I then stamped the trees and star from the Warmth and Wonder stamp set using Basic Black ink.  I two-stepped stamped the ornaments over the trees using Silver Metallic ink.  Once the circle was complete, I punched it out again using my 2 1/2" circle punch and popped it up on the Basic Black card base using Dimensionals.  The rim of the circle was cut out of Silver Glimmer paper using my big Shot and 2 sizes of circle framelits.  The smaller circle was nested inside the larger circle.  The greeting is also part of the Warmth and Wonder stamp set and was heat embossed onto the Basic Black card base using white embossing powder.  It really sparkles in person!

Supplies Used:

Stamp Set: Warmth and Wonder

Ink: Basic Black, Pacific Point, Marina Mist, Soft Sky, Silver Metallic, Versamark

Paper: Basic Black, Whisper White, Silver Glimmer

Accessories: 2 1/2" circle punch, Big Shot, Circles Framelits, Embossing Buddy, heat tool, white embossing powder, Dimensionals, rhinestone, sponge

My Digital Studio Jingle Bells Card

"Bell" is our cue word this week over at the CASology challenge site.

Here's my contribution:

MDS Jingle Bells 003

I do not own any bell stamps (I know, how sad!). I had to come up with Plan B by using My Digital Studio software program for this hybrid card.  Once the design was set (don't forget to use the Drop Shadow function!), I simply printed it out on a piece of white card stock, trimmed it down and mounted it to a piece of Night of Navy card base.  I added rhinestones colored with a yellow Sharpie pen to the centers of each of the snowflakes to add a little bling.

Supplies Used:

My Digital Studio

Paper: Whisper White, Night of Navy

Accessories: rhinestones, yellow Sharpie pen

Evergreen-Nacho Average Color Challenge #64

Week 64, and we have a color challenge over at the Nacho Average challenge site.

Nac64
Basic Black, Crumb Cake and Soft Suede

Here's my contribution:

Evergreen 002
For this card, I used my new favorite stamp set Evergreen.  It is a 2-step stamp that is currently on the Carry-over list.  Not sure how I missed it in last year's Holiday Catalog.  It is perfect for the landscape for where I live.  It's also great for Christmas AND masculine cards.

I stamped the solid image first in Soft Suede, then over stamped using the line image in Basic Black.  I have this set in clear-mount so lining it up is really easy.  No need for the Stamp a ma jig on this one.

Be sure to check out each of the Design Team's entry to the challenge and leave a comment if you can.  It means a lot to all of us!  We'd also love for you to play along with the weekly challenges.  A Linky Tool has been added so you can upload your creation to the Nacho Design Team site.

Supplies Used:

Stamp Sets: Evergreen, Warmth and Wonder

Ink: Soft Suede, Basic Black

Paper: Crumb Cake, Soft Suede, Whisper White, Basic Black Print Designer Series, Champagne Glimmer

Accessories: Big Shot, Bitty Banners Framelits, Merry Mini Punch Pack (star), Natural 7/16" Trim, button, Linen Thread, Dimensionals, Mini Glue Dot

Bokeh Christmas Tree-CASology Triangle Challenge

"Triangle" is our cue word this week over at CASology.

Update:  I guess this card is using the photography "bokeh" effect.  I did not know it had a name, so thanks to commenters from the CASology group who have enlightened me.

According to Wikipedia," the bokeh is the blur or aesthetic quality of the blur in out of focus areas of an image."  Learn something new everyday!

Here's my contribution:

Stencil christmas tree 020

Since I am in full Christmas card making mode, my take on the triangle theme of course would be a Christmas tree!

For this card, I used the polka dot stencil found in the Build a Banner kit to create this Christmas tree with a retro look.

I first created a tree stencil by drawing the shape on a piece of card stock, then cutting out the center.  I placed the tree stencil on a piece of Whisper White card stock, adhering it with a little temporary adhesive so it wouldn't shift while I worked on the circles.  I then placed the polka dot stencil over the tree stencil and sponged on Wisteria Wonder, Pistachio Pudding, Marina Mist, Soft Sky and Daffodil Delight ink using sponge daubers.  I moved the stencil around to create overlapping circles.  When complete, I removed the stencils and stamped the greeting from Greetings of the Season using Basic Black ink.  I cut the tree out using a pair of scissors, then popped it up on my embossed Basic Black card base using Dimensionals.  I also tried popping it up on a Whisper White embossed card base, then asked my husband what version he liked best.  He liked with the black background the best, so here we are!

Supplies Used:

Stamp Set: Greetings of the Season

Ink: Wisteria Wonder, Pistachio Pudding, Marina Mist, Soft Sky, Daffodil Delight, Basic Black

Paper: Basic Black, Whisper White

Accessories: Big Shot, Perfect Polka Dots embossing folder, sponge daubers, stencil from Create a Banner Kit, star punch, rhinestone, Dimensionals, Dotto

Dasher Card-Merry Monday Challenge #83

Our Merry Monday challenge this week is "Stripes, Red and Chocolate with Stars or Hearts."

Here's my contribution:

Dasher 012

This challenge gave me the perfect excuse to use Dasher, one of my all-time favorite stamps.  He retired a couple of years ago, but is back in celebration of Stampin' Up!'s 25th anniversary.  He can be found as part of the Best of Christmas stamp set.

Dasher was stamped using Cherry Cobbler ink on a strip of Whisper White card stock.  The greeting is from Warmth and Wonder and is stamped using Early Espresso.  Love this color combo!

Supplies Used:

Stamp Sets: Dasher, Warmth and Wonder

Ink: Cherry Cobbler, Early Espresso

Paper: Crumb Cake, Early Espresso, Whisper White, Seasons of Style Designer Series Paper

Accessories: star punch, glimmer brad, paper piercing tool and mat, Mini Glue Dot, Dazzling Details

Embossed Christmas Star-Nacho Average Challenge #63

Week #63 and we have a sketch challenge over at the Nacho Average challenge site.

Here's my contribution:

Christmas Star 029

For this card, I used my new all-time favorite stamp, Christmas Star.  It is a single stamp available through January 31, 2014.  It's big star measuring 4 1/2" x 4".  It comes in clear-mount only, so you need the largest clear-mount block F.

I stamped the star on a scrap piece of Whisper White card stock using Baked Brown Sugar ink.  This ink is the new formula which means it is wetter than the old dye ink formula.  This gives you more time to heat emboss the image before the ink dries.  That is what I did using clear embossing powder.  I then cut the star out using scissors (sorry, there isn't a punch or framelit for this one.)   I added Dimensionals to each of the points on the back side to pop it up on the card front.  The greeting was heat embossed using Cherry Cobbler embossing powder. A jumbo rhinestone colored with a red sharpie pen was added to the center of the star.  Smaller, non-colored rhinestones were added for an additional touch of bling.

Here's the original sketch:

Be sure to check out each of the Design Team's entry to the challenge and leave a comment if you can.  It means a lot to all of us!  We'd also love for you to play along with the weekly challenges.  A Linky Tool has been added so you can upload your creation to the Nacho Design Team site.

Stampin' Up! Supplies:

Stamp Sets: Christmas Star, Greetings of the Season

Ink: Baked Brown Sugar, Versamark

Paper: Whisper White, Cherry Cobbler

Accessories: heat tool, Embossing Buddy, Clear and Cherry Cobbler Embossing Powders, Jumbo Rhinestones, Rhinestones, Dimensionals, red Sharpie pen, paper scorer, scissors

Blue Ombre' Ornament

Our swap theme for last month's Saturday Stamp Club was "blue."  Shelley, our hostess, said the card could be any occasion, but that she was kind of partial to Christmas or winter cards.  So, I created this blue ornament Christmas card using the Ombré technique for a clean and simple look:

Umbre Ornament 003

Ombré is a French word meaning to shade. In art it means beautiful color gradation!

The Ombré technique is very easy.  Simply stamp an image using Versamark and heat emboss with white embossing powder.  Then, sponge on varying shades of the same color.  In this case, I used Pool Party, Midnight Muse and Marina Mist.

Supplies Used:

Stamp Sets: Ornament Keepsakes, Warmth and Wonder

Ink: Pool Party, Midnight Muse, Marina Mist

Paper: Whisper White, Midnight Muse

Accessories: white embossing powder, heat tool, sponge dauber, Big Shot, Stylish Stripes embossing folder, Bashful Blue ribbon, Mini Glue Dot, Dimensionals

Embossed Circles Pretty Package-Merry Monday Challenge #82

Our challenge this week over at the Merry Monday site was to create a card with Red, Aqua, White and circles.

Here is my contribution:

Embossed circles 004

For this card, I created a pretty wrapped package using the inlaid embossing technique.  I simply glued red and white punched circles on a piece of Coastal Cabana card stock.  Then, I ran the whole thing through the Big Shot, embossing it with my Perfect Polka Dots embossing folder.  A red stitched bow and 2 gift tags were added to complete the wrapped packaged.  This color combination makes me smile.  Wouldn't you like to receive a gift wrapped with this cheery "wrapping paper?"

Supplies Used:

Stamp Sets: Warmth and Wonder, Itty Bitty Banners

Ink: Coastal Cabana

Paper: Whisper White, Real Red, Coastal Cabana

Accessories: Big Shot, Perfect Polka Dots embossing folder, Bitty Banners framelit, 1/2", 3/4" and 1" circle punches, Real Red 1/4" Stitched Grosgrain ribbon, Mini Glue Dot

Christmas Star-CASology "Brown" Challenge"

"Brown" is our cue word over at the CASology challenge site this week.

This is my contribution:

Christmas Star 035

For this card, I used one of my all-time favorite stamps, the single Christmas Star from Stampin' Up!  This stamp is so versatile and can have so many looks.  I simply stamped the image on my Early Espresso card base with Versamark (I used the Embossing Buddy first), then heat embossed using white embossing powder.  The greeting is from Greetings of the Season and was also heat embossed with white embossing powder.  I colored the jumbo rhinestone in the center using a red Sharpie pen.

This is actually one of my favorite Christmas cards I've done so far for this Christmas season.  (60 or so one of a kind cards down and counting....)  Not the usual traditional Christmas colors, but I really like it.

Stamp Sets: Christmas Star, Greetings of the Season

Ink: Versamark

Paper: Early Espresso

Accessories: Embossing Buddy, white embossing powder, heat tool, jumbo rhinestone, Sharpie pen

Festive Flurry Ornament-Nacho Average Challenge #62

We have a pretty color challenge this week over at the Nacho Average challenge site:

Early Espresso, Melon Mambo and Marina Mist

NAC 62

Here's my contribution:

Snow Flurry 014

These are not your traditional Christmas colors, but I really like how this color combination looks for a winter-themed card.

I started by cutting out a circle from my Marina Mist card base using a circles framelit and the Big Shot.  I made a Melon Mambo frame for the circle by nesting 2 circle framelits and cutting them out using the Big Shot.  Three snowflakes from Festive Flurry were stamped in the challenge colors and cut out using the coordinating framelits and Big Shot, then layered one on top of the other using Dimensionals.  They were then hung from the card base circle using Early Espresso 1/8" Taffeta ribbon secured with Mini Glue Dots, one at the top of the card base, the other at the top of the layered snowflakes.  A bow was added to cover up the top.  I added a rhinestone for a little bit of bling, stamped the greeting and done!

Don't forget to include a coordinating envelope using the Big Shot and Envelope Liner Framelit!

Snow Flurry 015

Be sure to check out each of the Design Team's entry to the challenge and leave a comment if you can.  It means a lot to all of us!  We'd also love for you to play along with the weekly challenges.  A Linky Tool has been added so you can upload your creation to the Nacho Design Team site.

Stampin' Up! Supplies:

Stamp Set: Festive Flurry, Sincere Salutations

Ink: Early Espresso, Marina Mist, Melon Mambo

Paper: Marina Mist, Whisper White, scrap piece of Designer Series Paper

Accessories: Big Shot, Festive Flurry, Circle and Envelope Liner Framelits, Early Espresso 1/8" Taffeta and 1/4" Stitched Grosgrain Ribbon, rhinestone, Mini Glue Dots, Dimensionals, envelope
