Masking/Painter's Tape "Love"- Nacho Average Challenge #54

We have a color challenge this week over at the Nacho Average site:

NAC 54

Here's my contribution:

Painters Tape 001

For this card I tried the fun Masking or Painter's Tape Technique.  I used masking tape as that is what I had on hand.  It is so simple to do.  Here's how:

Apply SNAIL adhesive on a clear mount block (for this project, I used clear mount block "E").

Lay strips of masking or painter's tape, sticky side UP on a clear mount block. This is the hardest part of the technique because the surface of the tape is, well sticky!  I used the tips of a pair of scissors to hold the tape down and to smooth it out on the block.

Color the strips of masking tape using markers or Stampin' Spots.  I do not have a Soft Suede marker, so I used the Soft Suede Stampin' Spot that came with the All Dolled Up Kit Stampin' Up! was selling awhile back.

Turn the block over and stamp on a piece of glossy white card stock (you can stamp on a piece of regular Whisper White card stock, but the colors will not be as vivid).

Painters Tape 008

Carefully lift the block off the paper.  Remember the tape is sticky!  Set aside the piece to let the ink dry.  You can do a few backgrounds by just reinking the tape before having to change out the tape.

I also wanted to try out my new Expressions Thinlits dies from Stampin' Up!  The first try didn't do well as the cut paper got stuck in the Thinlit.  I tried to dig it out with my paper piercing tool, but the word just came out in pieces :(

So I added a piece of wax paper to my Big Shot sandwich and it worked perfectly.  The word just popped out!  The sandwich should be: Cutting Platform, cutting plate, card stock, wax paper, framelit and upper cutting plate.
