One of my all-time favorite things to do with my Big Shot is to cut recycled aluminum cans! My friends know this and have been saving different kinds of soda and beer cans for me. I have quite a collection! Recently, we moved from New Mexico to Colorado. One of the things I made sure that made the move was a large plastic bag filled with all these saved recycled aluminum cans. My husband shook his head when he saw me packing this precious bag into a moving box! For Christmas, I thought it would be cool to decorate a small fir tree by our front porch using snowflakes cut out of these aluminum cans. I used a variety of cans and ended up making about 25 snowflakes. I couldn't seem to stop myself!
Be sure to visit my posting dated December 10, 2009 for more details and a video tutorial on how to cut aluminum cans using the Big Shot Die-Cut Machine.
Here are some of the snowflakes (Cans used in this photo: Tecate beer, Big K Grape, Coke Zero, Sprite, Negro Modelo beer, Coca Cola, and La Croiz Cran-Raspberry. My favorite cans to use are Coca Cola, Coke Zero, Sprite and Ginger Ale. The La Croix and Big K brands have a lot of really interesting colors, but a fair amount of writing to work around when cutting the can. The beer cans have good color but too much writing on the can to work around.)
