Faux Flocking Technique
The Faux Flocking Technique is a great way to add texture and interest to your cardmaking, plus it’s a great way to use up paper scraps.

I paired the Faux Flocking Technique with the Beauty of Friendship stamp set for a pretty Mother’s Day card.
Change the greeting for any occasion!
Here’s How:
- To create faux flocking: Use a cutting tool to distress the edges of scrap pieces of card stock. It can take a while to get enough small pieces, but be patient. It’s worth the work! I used a mix of Polished Pink, Blushing Bride and Basic White card stock. Stampin’ Up! no longer sells a distressing tool, but you could use sand paper, an emery board or scissors.
2. Two-step leaves from Beauty of Friendship: solid image using a lighter color (Blushing Bride), detailed image using a darker color (Polished Pink).
3. With a paintbrush, apply liquid glue to the leaves. I used Tombow Glue. Apply the faux flocking, spreading it as you work. I used my Take Your Pick Tool to move the pieces around. Set aside to allow the glue to dry.
4. Die-cut using the coordinating die. Stamp tree using Early Espresso ink. Die-cut using the coordinating die. Attach to the card front. I used the retired Beauty of the Earth Designer Series Paper for this card.
5. Attach Faux Flocking using Mini Dimensionals to pop it up.
6. Create grass by cutting a narrow strip of Granny Apple Green card stock. Use pinking shears or scissors. Attach to card front using Mini Dimensionals to pop it up.
7. Stamp greeting using Early Espresso ink. I used the retired Teeny Tiny Wishes for this Mother’s Day card.
8. Stamp birds from Mountain Air using Early Espresso ink.
9. Attach to Early Espresso mat. Attach to Basic White card base to complete.
