Stained Glass Butterfly

Butterflies Thinlits 017

I am loving the new Butterfly Thinlits from Stampin' Up!  After a long, snowy winter here in the mountains of southern Colorado, I am ready for a touch of spring!

For this card, I cut the medium butterfly out of Basic Black card stock and attached it to a piece of vellum card stock with a small strip of SNAIL adhesive.  I then colored through the openings on the butterfly onto the vellum underneath using Night of Navy and Old Olive Blendabilities giving it a stained glass effect.  The possibilities are endless by using different colors of the Blendabilities.  I stamped images from Butterfly Basics and Gorgeous Grunge in Pear Pizzazz, Soft Sky and Tuxedo Black inks to complete the card.

Here's my contribution:

Kindness is Love 002

I am so ready for spring and warmer temps and I couldn't wait to play with the new stamp set Love is Kindness found in the new Stampin' Up! Occasions Catalog (the catalog goes live today!).  These tulips are so cheery and they make me smile.

I stamped them using my Tuxedo Black Memento Pad and colored them in using Melon Mambo, Pink Pirouette and Old Olive Blendabilities.

Partridge and Pears-Nacho Average Sketch Challenge #121

We have a quick and easy sketch this week over at the Nacho Average Challenge site.

Here's my contribution:

Partridge & Pears 003

For this card, I used the fun Partridge and Pears stamp set.  I heat embossed the partridge, tree and greeting using gold embossing powder, then colored in the images using Blendabilities.  I actually stamped and embossed the partridge again on a scrap piece of paper, colored it in, cut it out and then layered it on the main image to add a little dimension.  This stamp set makes me smile!

Perfect Peacock-Happy World Card Making Day

World Card Making Day is Saturday, October 4!  Whatever your day brings, I hope you will take some time to create!

Here's what I created for World Card Making Day:

Perfect Peacock 004

For this card I colored the new Perfect Peacock stamp with Tempting Turquoise, Old Olive and Daffodil Delight Blendabilities. Beautiful!

I must admit that I wasn't sure about this stamp at first because of all the coloring.  I wasn't a big fan of coloring until recently.  With the introduction of the Blendabilities alcohol markers, my attitude towards coloring has totally changed!  The Blendabilities make coloring so easy and the effect is so pretty.  Now, I find that I can sit at my craft table with some music playing in the background and color for hours. I find myself getting lost in the coloring.  Wow!  And this stamp set is so beautiful and elegant.

Enjoy!

Supplies Used:

Stamp Set: Perfect Peacock

Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black

Accessories: Tempting Turquoise, Old Olive, Daffodil Delight Blendabilities, Color Lifter, Dimensionals

Blendabilities Storage Box

Create this storage box to hold your Blendabilties,Memento Pad and Color Lifter!

Blendabilities 013

This is the first storage case I created for myself.  Love it!

Blendabilities 020

And this is the 2nd storage case I created for a customer.  She was very pleased to receive it!

A few words about this project:
The pattern for the storage box was created by Bev Adams, and the instructions were created by her.

Please click here for Bev's instructions as a pdf file.

I found an error on the "Outer Wrapping Back Support."  Step 18 says "turn to landscape and score at 2 3/8" and 6 1/4".  This should read, turn to PORTRAIT and score at 2 3/8" and 6 1/4".
I tried to convert her pdf to make this correction and was unable to.

This project is a little time consuming, but not difficult to do.  It is basically making boxes.  You will become good at making boxes by the time you are finished!

It uses a lot of card stock (11 sheets of 8 1/2 x 11) and a lot of Sticky Strip.  I used SNAIL Adhesive for parts of the construction, but for the most part, I used Sticky Strip.  You need the extra strength of the Sticky Strip to hold it all together.

Bev's instructions calls for the use of Coaster Board.  This is adhered to the bottom of each of the marker boxes to give them support.  I used the light-weight cardboard that comes with the packets of Designer Series Paper instead.  Each piece measures 3 1/2 x 4 1/2.  You will use 1 full sheet of the 12 x 12 packaging for 6, plus a piece of a 2nd sheet for the 7th.

Let me know if you have any questions.  Have fun!

Bright and Beautiful-Nacho Average Challenge #107

The Christmas count down has officially begun for me with my contribution to this week's Nacho Average Sketch Challenge.  It is my first Christmas card of the season!  1 down, 100 to go!

Bright and Beautiful 005

For this card, I used Bright and Beautiful, one of the new stamp sets found in the Stampin' Up! Holiday Catalog.  The words are separate stamps.  I mounted them together on a clear block for easy line by line stamping.  Perfect for the sketch:

Rich Razzleberry Blended Bloom-Nacho Average Challenge #104

Our colors this week for the Nacho Average color challenge are Bermuda Bay, Daffodil Delight and Rich Razzleberry.

Here's my contribution:

Blendabilities 014

For this card, I decided I'd use what was out on my crafting table at the time.  I've been busy prepping for upcoming Stamp Clubs and my first Christmas Stamp a Stack this month.  Wow, sometimes it works out that the colors I had out are the challenge colors for the week!

Blendabilities 018

So, I started out by stamping the Dictionary background stamp on a piece of Whisper White card stock using Bermuda Bay ink.  Then, I stamped the Blended Bloom image on a scrap piece of Whisper White card stock using the Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored it in using my Rich Razzleberry and Daffodil Delight Blendabilities.  I cut it out using a pair of scissors (sorry, no punch or framelit for this one), and popped it up in the center of the stamped Dictionary using Dimensionals.  The greeting is from Itty Bitty Banners stamped in Rich Razzleberry and cut out using the Banners Framelits and the Big Shot.  Easy, Easy!

Cherry Cobbler Blendabilities and Blended Bloom

Blended Bloom 001

The Blended Bloom image was stamped several times using the Tuxedo Black Memento pad on Whisper White card front.  The main image was stamped and colored in using Cherry Cobbler Blendabilities.  I started with the darker color, then filled in with the medium color, then filled in with the lighter color.  I used the Color Lifter to add highlights.  The image was then cut out using scissors and added to the stamped card front using Dimensionals.  Easy, easy and love the color pop!

Happy Birthday Blended Bloom

Blendabilities 003

This was one of the projects we did for a recent Blendabilities class I held for the Ladies of Wetmore.

I used the Melon Mambo Blendabilities collection to color in the Blended Bloom stamp set.  Bright, cheery, and beautiful!

Any of the Blendabilities would have been just as pretty.  Here's a sampler page of Blended Bloom colored with the other sets of Blendabilities I have-Wisteria Wonder, Rich Razzleberry, Night of Navy, Cherry Cobbler and Pumpkin Pie.

Blendabilities 001

I think my favorite is the Night of Navy flower.  I am just drawn to that blue!

Stamp Sets: Blended Bloom, Sassy Salutations

Ink: Tuxedo Black Memento pad

Paper: Basic Black, Daffodil Delight, Whisper White, Moonglow DSP

Blendabilities Vivid Vases

Vivid Vases 025

I've been playing with my new Blendabilities alcohol markers from Stampin' Up!

It takes a little practice, but is so worth it.  I've never been much of a colorer, but the Blendabilities make it so easy.

For this card, I used the medium and light Night of Navy Blendabilies for the vases.  I think the Night of Navy is my favorite color collection.  What's your favorite?

Stamp Set: Vivid Vases

Ink: Tuxedo Black Memento Pad (my new favorite ink pad)

Paper: Whisper White, Night of Navy

Accessories: Night of Navy, Pumpkin Pie, Rich Razzleberry, Wisteria Wonder, Daffodil Delight , Old Olive Blendabilities, Big Shot, Stripes Embossing Folder, Brights Candy Dot
