Inspired by another scene in my surroundings, this inlaid swallowtail card was quick and easy to create.
Here's the inspiration.
This swallowtail is feeding on a blooming thistle growing along the Hardscrabble Creek that flows through our property in the mountains of Southern Colorado.
What a pretty poser!
Now onto the card!
I first cut out the swallowtail butterfly out of Crushed Curry card stock using my Big Shot and Butterflies Thinlits Die.
I was then left with a stencil cut out piece that I decided to use in the card as well.
I cut a piece of Whole Lot of Lovely Designer Series Paper the size of the cutout.
This design is my favorite from the pack of DSP. Love the bold colors set on the black background!
Here are the pieces I used for the inlay.
Because I thought the card front needed to be broken up a little bit, I ran the whole piece through my Big Shot, embossing it with the Sparkle Embossing Folder.
I attached the card front to my Basic Black card base, then attached the cut out butterfly over the stencil using a Dimensional on the body. This way, the butterfly will pop up slightly.
I added black candy dots from my stash for added interest.
Another quick and easy card using my surroundings as my inspiration!
