Embossed Copper Foil Paper-Double Hexagon Embossing Folder

Double Hexagon Embossing Folder

Celebrate 2017!

I wish you a very Happy, Healthy and Peaceful New Year!

To bring in 2017, I decided to create a sparkly copper foil embossed card using the new Double Hexagon Embossing Folder.

The  Double Hexagon Embossing folder can be found in the upcoming Occasions Catalog from Stampin' Up! (available January 4).

I love the texture and rich color!

I paired the embossed background with flowers and leaves cut out of Basic Black card stock using Botanical Builder and Christmas Pines Framelits Dies.

The greeting comes from Good Greetings (retired) which I heat embossed onto a scrap piece of copper foil paper using black embossing powder.

This is a cool technique, and the possibilities are endless with all the available embossing folders.

Which embossed copper foil paper will be your favorite?

Supplies Used:

Stamp Set: Good Greetings

Ink: Memento Black

Paper: Basic Black, Copper Foil

Accessories: Big Shot, Double  Hexagon Embossing Folder, Botanical Builder and Christmas Pines Framelits Dies, Embossing Buddy, heat tool, black embossing powder, pearl, Dimensionals

Snow Blooms-White Craft Ink Meets Sheltering Tree

Snow Blooms Sheltering Tree

Snow!  It's easy to create the look of snow using white craft ink!

For this card, I wanted the tree from Sheltering Tree to be covered in snow blooms.

I started by stamping the blooms from Sheltering Tree onto my Smokey Slate card front.  I then stamped the trunk using Early Espresso ink.  I added some more snow to the around the tree by stamping the ground image using white craft ink.

What is craft ink?  It is a pigment ink which means it is thicker and slower to try.  Drying time varies, but can take up to an hour depending on how inky your pad is.  Once it dries, it is waterproof and permanent meaning it will not fade.

Stampin' Up! sells White Craft ink #101731, plus the refill #101780.

White Craft Ink Snow Blooms

Want to add a little more oomph to your project?  You can add embossing powder to the ink and heat emboss to get raised or bolder images.  The ink stays wet longer, allowing you plenty of time to add your embossing powder and get it embossed.

Here, I stamped my blooms in white craft ink, then embossed them with white embossing powder.

You can see that the snow blooms pop more.

Embossed Snow Blooms

I hope you'll try adding snow to your crafting projects by using white craft ink!

Supplies Used:

Stamp Sets: Sheltering Tree, Thoughtful Branches  (greeting)

Ink: White Craft, Early Espresso

Paper: Cherry Cobbler, Early Espresso, Smokey Slate

Accessories: white embossing powder, heat tool, Cherry Cobbler Bakers Twine

Iris Folded Happy Place Winter Scene

Iris Folded Little Houses Winter Scene

A "happy place" iris folded winter scene-Happy Winter!

(for more iris folding ideas, patterns and video tutorial, please visit my Iris Folding Page)

Here is a slightly different take on my iris folded snow globe project originally posted here.

I decided that I didn't want to make it a snow globe, but rather  just use the circle from the snow globe pattern to create a little winter scene.

The designer paper comes from the retired pack International Bazaar, and the little houses come from the November 2016 Wonderful Wonderland Paper Pumpkin kit.  They were already Pool Party in color which matches the blue in the designer paper.  I simply added a small piece of So Saffron behind each one to give a warm glow coming from the windows.  The "iris" is Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer paper with Rich Razzleberry ink sponged on.  The greeting comes from another Paper Pumpkin kit All About Everything.

Hope you like my little happy place iris folded winter scene!

Supplies Used:

Stamp Set: All About Everything (April 2016 Paper Pumpkin bonus stamp)

Ink: Rich Razzleberry

Paper: Rich Razzleberry, So Saffron, Pool Party, International Bazaar DSP, Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer

Accessories: 2 1/2" circle punch, Big Shot, Zig Zag embossing folder, Circle and, Itty Bitty Banner framelits, Wonderful Wonderland Paper Pumpkin kit, sponge, rhinestones, Sharpie Pen, Dimensionals

Iris Folded Snow Globe

Iris Fold Snow Globe Iris Folded Snow Globe!

It's been awhile since I've done any iris folding. Not sure why since it is one of my all-time paper crafting techniques!

I did a quick search on Pinterest, and found a really fun snow globe pattern from iris-folding.com

The pattern can be found here.

It is basically a circle pattern so it is super simple.

(For more Iris Folding ideas and a video how to tutorial, please visit my Iris Folding Page.)

I first embossed my Mint Macaron card front using my Big Shot and Gently Falling Embossing Folder.  I then punched out the circle using my 2 1/2" circle punch.

I laid the card front over the pattern I printed out from Iris-Folding.com (remember,  place the front side down-you'll be working from the back), and started laying out my designer paper (Blooms and Bliss cut into 1/2" strips).

The "iris" is Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer paper with Island Indigo ink sponged on to make a custom color to match the colors in the designer paper and the snow globe.

(Creating your custom color glimmer paper is easy-see instruction here).

The trees are pieces found in the November Wonderful Winterland Paper Pumpkin Kit.  In the kit, they are white so I simply stamped the coordinating image from the stamp set using Mint Macaron ink.  They are popped up using Dimensionals.

The ring around the snow globe was cut out of Island Indigo card stock using my Big Shot and 2 layers of circle framelits.

I didn't care for the base of the snow globe in the pattern, so I cut a triangle free hand out of Island Indigo card stock.

Since I'm pretty much done with Christmas cards, I wanted this to be a winter wishes, Happy New Year or even a thank you card.

I searched through my stamps and found this small "hello" and scribble that I knew would work with my 7/8" and 1 1/4" scallop circle punches.  Layering the 2 punches would fit perfectly on the front of the snow globe.

To complete the card, I added a few rhinestones for bling and mounted it to a Whisper White card base.

This Iris Folded Snow Globe was a great way to revisit one of my favorite paper crafting techniques!

Supplies Used:

Stamp Sets: Pennant Parade and Kindness Matters (both retired), Wonderful Winterland

Ink: Island Indigo, Mint Macaron

Paper: Whisper White, Mint Macaron, Island Indigo, Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer, Blooms and Bliss Designer Series Paper

Accessories: Big Shot, Softly Falling Embossing Folder, Circles Framelits, 2 1/2" circle, 7/8" scallop circle and 1 1/4" scallop circle punches, Wonderful Winterland Paper Pumpkin Kit, sponge, Dimensionals, rhinestones

Custom Made Melon Mambo Glimmer Paper Meets Detailed Santa

Melon Mambo Glimmer Detailed Santa

Custom Made Melon Mambo Glimmer Paper, please meet Detailed Santa!

I was cleaning up my stamping studio when I came across a Detailed Santa cut out of Basic Black card stock.  Obviously a left over from my Tie Dyed Santa stamping projects!

I knew I had to use this last piece before I put the Detailed Santa Thinlits dies away for the season.

I also had a piece of Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer paper in my stack of scraps, and an idea started to form.  I laid the black piece over the glimmer piece, but didn't quite like the look.  The Dazzling Diamonds paper was just too bright and Santa was lost on it.  mmmm... Why not tone down the glimmer paper by adding a softer shade of pink?

So, I got out my Melon Mambo ink and pad and a sponge and went to work.

Making custom color glimmer paper to match Stampin' Up!'s colors is super simple.

You can fill a Stampin' Spritzer bottle with rubbing alcohol, add a few drops of reinker, shake to mix, then spritz it on the paper.

Or simply sponge on the color using a sponge or sponge dauber like I did.

sponging Melon Mambo onto glimmer paper

Custom color glimmer paper

To finish the card, I heat embossed the greeting from Greetings from Santa using white embossing powder.  I then swiped on some Melon Mambo using the excess ink on my sponge.

The possibilities are endless!

What color of custom made glimmer paper is in your future?

Supplies Used:

Stamp Set: Greetings from Santa

Ink: Versamark

Paper: Melon Mambo, Basic Black, Dazzling Details Glimmer

Accessories: Big Shot, Detailed Santa Thinlits Dies, sponge, Embossing Buddy, heat tool, white embossing powder, Dimensionals

After Santa was cut out, the greeting was heat embossed using white embossing powder, then popped up on the background using Dimensionals.

What colors will you use for your tie dye Santa?

Tie Dye Santa

Tie Dye Greetings from Santa

Tye Die Santa: a little different Christmas card using non-traditional Christmas colors.

The background is the clear block stamping technique.  I dabbed on Melon Mambo, Tempting Turquoise and Wisteria Wonder inks onto my "E" clear block, spritzed with water so the ink would pool and run and then stamped onto a piece of Whisper White card stock.  I let it set for a few seconds, lifted it off and let the ink dry.

I Just love the tie dye look!

Greetings from Santa

Santa was cut out of Elegant Eggplant card stock using my Big Shot and Detailed Santa Thinlits Die. He was popped up from the background using Dimensionals.  The greeting is from the coordinating stamp set, Greetings from Santa, and was heat embossed using white embossing powder.

Stenciled Santa's Sleigh Reindeer

Santas Sleigh 018

A couple of days ago, I posted a project I did using the Santa's Sleigh Thinlits to cut out reindeer for Hershey Nugget boxes.

I was left with this strip of silver glimmer reindeer:

Santas Sleigh 023

I turned it over and used the strip as a stencil to create the Elegant Eggplant reindeer above.  Recycle and reuse, right?

Santas Sleigh 024

The background is the clear block watercolor stamping technique.  I dabbed Island Indigo, Elegant Eggplant and Wisteria Wonder inks onto my clear block "E", spritzed it with water so the ink would run and pool, then stamped it onto a piece of Whisper White card stock.  I let it sit on the paper for a few seconds, lifted it off, and I was left with this pretty tie-dye background.

I placed the stencil on the paper and used a sponge dauber to add Elegant Eggplant ink.  In person, the reindeer looks like velvet.  I am loving this card!

Santa's Sleigh Reindeer Nugget Boxes

Santas Sleigh 016

I recently made these reindeer nugget boxes as thank you gifts for those attending a recent Christmas card class.

These boxes were easy to put together as I let Presents and Pinecones Designer Washi Tape do most of the work.  After cutting and scoring the nugget box bases, I punched the tops using my Angle Tag Topper punch and then added the strips of Washi tape to one side.  I cut the reindeer from the Santa's Sleigh Thinlits die out of silver glimmer paper, tied a Candy Cane Lane Baker's Twine bow around his neck and attached him with a Dimensional.  After placing 3 Hershey Nuggets on the inside, I added a thank you greeting from Teeny Tiny Wishes and tied the box together at the top with more baker's twine.  Couldn't be easier!

Santas Sleigh 021

And as an added bonus, I'm left with this strip of cut out reindeer to use as a stencil for another project.  Stay tuned!

Santas Sleigh 023

The dimensions for the box are:

7/8" x 7 1/2" piece of card stock, scored at 3/4", 1 1 /2", 3", 4 1/2", 6" and 6 3/4".

Stamp Set: Teeny Tiny Wishes

Ink: Cherry Cobbler

Paper: Whisper White, Silver Glimmer

Accessories: Big Shot, Santa's Sleigh Thinlits Dies, Angle Top punch (retired-substitute with the Scallop Tag Topper punch), Presents and Pinecones Designer Washi Tape, Candy Lane Baker's Twine, Cherry Cobbler Baker's Twine, Dimensionals
