Winter Sheltering Tree

Colorado Stamp Camp 001

A quick share as life has gotten pretty busy and stressful.  On Monday, Oct 17, my husband and I, plus our 2 dogs and 2 cats were evacuated from our house due to the quick spreading Junkins Fire. We went to my mother in law's house in Colo Springs, and were finally allowed back into our home on Friday, Oct 21.  Although the fire is now 60% contained, they are still trying to build a containment perimeter on the ridge behind our house.  Hopefully, more progress will be made today.

And sadly, my mother in law is dying and is expected to pass any day.  She is strong and willful and has fought a valiant battle.  We wish her peace and know she will be going to a better place.  During the evacuation, we were where we needed to be: safe and near her.

So, not much time or opportunity to stamp over the past few weeks.  This card is one of the projects we did at my Canon City Stamp Camp over Labor Day weekend.  That seems like a lifetime ago!  Anyway, I am posting it today as we certainly could use cooler temps.  And snow!  Come on snow!

Happy Ornament-Clear Block Stamping

Happy ornament 005

Here's another card using the Happy Ornament stamp set and clear block stamping technique.

The background was the ink that was left over on the block after stamping the background for this card shared on Oct 4.

I like both effects, but I think I like the more sparse background a tad bit  more.  What do you think?

Tie Dye Happy Ornament-Clear Block Stamping

Happy ornament 008

I'm really liking the fun Happy Ornament stamp found in the SU! Holiday Catalog!

This stamp is perfect for water coloring, but I decided to change it up a little bit by creating a clear block water color tie dye background.

I inked up my clear block "E" by patting on Emerald Envy, Mint Macaron, Delightful Dijon and Cherry Cobbler inks.  I spritzed the block with water until the ink began to pool and run and then stamped it on my water color paper card front.  I let it set for a minute or two so the ink would absorb into the paper, lifted it up and set the paper away to dry.  After it dried, I stamped the ornament using black archival ink.  I colored in the bow using a black Sharpie pen and then added a rhinestone that I colored using a red Sharpie pen.

The color possibilities are endless!
