Thoughtful Branches Winter Trees

Thoughtful Branches 004

The Thoughtful Branches and coordinating Beautiful Branches Thinlits dies are perfect for creating 4 seasons of pretty trees!

These are offered while supplies last!

Here's my take on winter trees.  I really like the two-step stamps for this tree image.  The first stamp is the trunk and branches (stamped in Early Espresso), the second is the leaves (stamped in Dapper Denim. The leaves were stamped again using Versamark and then Heat and Stick Powder was added.  After it was heated, Dazzling Diamonds were sprinkled on.

This card really sparkles in person!

Baby Wipe Background-Christmas Pines, Pretty Pines

It is week 2 of our sketch challenge #178 over at the Nacho Average site.

Here's my contribution:

Christmas Pines 002

While this is not officially the first Christmas card I created this season, it comes pretty close!

Yes, Christmas will be here before we know it!

For this card I used the Christmas Pines stamp set and coordinating Pretty Pines Thinlits dies which can be purchased from the upcoming Holiday Catalog on Sept 1.

So, I guess this is a sneak peek!

The background is a baby wipe that I had used to clean off stamps.  I let it dry, then glued it to a scrap piece of card stock.  I could then cut it down as needed.  I like the soft fuzzy look it gives to the card.

Supplies Used:

Stamp Set: Christmas Pines

Ink: Cherry Cobbler, various

Paper: Mint Macaron, Emerald Envy, Early Espresso, Crumb Cake, Cherry Cobbler

Accessories: Big Shot, Pretty Pines Thinlits dies, rhinestones, red Sharpie pen

Touches of Texture- Nacho Average Sketch Challenge #178

This time around, we have a sketch challenge over at the Nacho Average challenge site.

Here's my contribution:

Touches of Texture 004

For this card, I used the pretty 2- step stamp Touches of Texture and the fun Serene Scenery Designer Series Paper Stack.

I inked up the solid image of the flower using Delightful Dijon, off stamped, then stamped onto a piece of Whisper White card stock.  I then stamped the line image of the flower using Early Espresso ink.  I used my 2" circle punch to punch out the flower, then matted it to a 2 1/2" Old Olive circle.  The greeting came from the Build a Birthday stamp set.

We hope you'll play along with this week's challenge.

There's a Linky Tool to share your card.

Watercolor Paper Background and Sheltering Tree

It's almost the middle of August!  Where has the summer gone?

I have been super busy and haven't had much time for stamping, darnit!

Since the card I recently shared for the Nacho Average "summer fun" challenge featured the paper towel background technique, I thought I'd share again a card I created using the same technique with Sheltering Tree.

It may not be a new sample, but I think it is still pretty cool!

Hopefully, I can get back into a stamping routine soon.

Sheltering Tree 103

The background was made after I cleaned up the ink from inside an embossing folder using a paper towel.

The paper towel is 2 ply, so I removed one of the plys, glued it to a piece of card stock using a glue stick and then stamped on it.

Easy, Easy!

I love the texture it gives to the card.  And I always like to recycle and reuse!

Supplies Used:

Stamp Set: Sheltering Tree

Ink: various that were originally swiped on the inside of the embossing folder, then spritzed with water.  Early Espresso and Emerald Envy for the trunk and tree.

Paper: Soft Suede, scrap Whisper White

Accessories: paper towel, glue stick

Outdoor Adventure-Paper Towel Background-Nacho Average Summer Fun Theme Challenge

We have one more week of our "Summer Fun" challenge over at the Nacho Average site!

Won't you play along?

Upload your creation using the Linky Tool.

You just might be our Top Nacho!

Summer Fun

Here's my contribution:

Always an Adventure 002

For this card, I created a fun landscape using some recycled paper towels that I had used to clean off stamps.

I wet the paper towels, cleaned off the stamps and then let them dry.  I have a collection of these in my stash and just could resist!

Before using the paper towels, I applied some glue from a glue stick onto a piece of Whisper White card stock backing.  They then have some weight to them, allowing me to cut them using the Big Shot and Outdoor Adventure framelits dies or trimming them with my paper cutter.

I love how the paper towels add a cool texture!

The greeting is from Sunburst Sayings and was heat embossed onto my Early Espresso card base using white embossing powder.

Other supplies: various inks as I cleaned off stamp sets using wet paper towels, paper towels, glue stick

Here's one that I created using the watercolor wash background technique.

Thoughtful Branches 003

For the background, I did the watercolor wash technique by swishing Pool Party and Old Olive inks on watercolor paper using an Aqua Painter.

To add dimension to the tree, I first cut the bare tree image and large trunk out of Early Espresso card stock using the Thoughtful Branches thinlits dies.  I stamped the leaves using Old Olive ink on Pear Pizzazz card stock.  I then cut the image out using the coordinating thinlit.  The leaves were then popped up on the Early Espresso branches and trunk using Dimensionals.
I stamped the greeting using Real Red ink, then heat embossed using clear embossing powder.
Supplies Used:
Stamp Set: Thoughtful Branches
Ink:Real Red, Early Espresso,
Paper:Old Olive, Pool Party, Real Red, Early Espresso, Pear Pizzazz, Whisper White, watercolor
Accessories: Big Shot,Beautiful Branches Thinlits dies, Aqua Painter, heat tool, clear embossing powder, Dimensionals

Always an Adventure-Nacho Average Summer Fun Challenge #177

Woo Hoo, our challenge this week over at the Nacho site is "summer fun!"

What does summer fun mean to you?

Create some summer fun, and share on the site using the Linky Tool.

We hope to see you there!

Here's my contribution:

Always an Adventure 001

I couldn't resist creating a summer fun card using the stamp set Always an Adventure and coordinating Outdoor Adventure Framelits Dies.

The mountain scene, along with the bear, perfectly fits my everyday surroundings here in the mountains of SW Colorado!  The hot air balloons are perfect too as I am originally from Albuquerque, the hot air balloon capital of the world with the annual fiesta in October.  The small town of Canon City, which is about 30 miles from me, also holds a a much smaller event, the  Balloon Classic Memorial Day weekend.

Mountains, trees, bear and balloons!  What could be better for summer fun?
