This card was created by Sandra, one of my favorite artists.  I love how she used the Sweet Treat Cup for the balloon.  I wonder if she used the Stamp-a-ma-jig to stamp the gondola?

 

 This bright and cheery card was created by Diane.  Diane is fairly new to stamping.  I think she's got it!

Upsy Daisy card created by the very talented Paula.  This is one of my favorite stamp sets, and I love the purple!

Here are more of the wonderful cards I received for my birthday. I certainly felt special!

Isn't this one gorgeous?  This one was created by Rose, one of my fellow Nacho Average Stampers. The butterflies make me smile.

 

And speaking of butterflies, isn't this one absolutely beautiful?  This was created by the very talented Melita, one of my Blue Moon Stampers team members. Melita is the master of pop-up cards!

Melita also gave me this coordinating note pad holder.  Note taking will never be more beautiful. And you can never go wrong with purple!

One of many great things about being a part of the Stampin' Up! community is the wonderful cards you receive from customers and fellow demonstrators for holidays and special occasions.  I looked forward to the mail all week because I knew I would be receiving awesome hand-made cards for my birthday.  I will be sharing these cards with you over the next few days.  Please enjoy!

Yes, today is my birthday.  I am going to spend the afternoon with some stampin' friends creating birthday cards in my Happy Birthday Stamp a Stack.

This is one of the cards we will be creating.

 

I love the using the new Folk Flowers Decor Stencils from Stampin'  Up! (found on page 18 of the Mini catalog)  They are so easy to use and give that added pop.  I did this one in purples as that is my favorite color.

For this afternoon's get together, I will be serving some of my favorite things: chocolate cake (baked by my dear friend Melita), ice cream, bread home-baked by my husband, cheetos, fritos, and chocolate!   Forget your diet this afternoon! And then for dinner, my husband and I will go to my Mom's.  She will cook my favorite dinner, chicken curry.  She makes it for me every year for my birthday.  So, I think it will be a most excellent birthday!

Aluminum Hearts-cutting aluminum with the Big Shot

I know Valentine's Day has passed, but I wanted to make a special card for a friend of mine who is going through some rough times.  She is an avid Coca-Cola collector, and I knew she'd appreciate a thinking of you card made with Coke cans.  I used my Big Shot and a Sizzix Hearts die to cut out the hearts from two coke cans.  The big heart was cut from a Coke can that is promoting the Olympics, so there is a snowboarder on the can.  It was a little tricky cutting out the heart around this figure.  So instead, I added the plain silver heart (the inside of the can) right over the snowboarder.  The smaller heart was cut out of a Christmas Coke can that had a picture of Santa Claus and snowflakes.

I used my new Pinking Hearts border punch on the silver mat.  I obviously need more practice punching a square.  Please excuse the rough corners!

One of the things I like about using the  Pinking Hearts border punch is all the little hearts that are cut out.  Here is my pile of left over little silver hearts. I added them as confetti to the inside of the card.  I know, I know.  When she opens the card, she'll have a confetti heart mess, but I couldn't resist!

Scrunchy Flower-Stamping 411 Sketch Challenge

This card is my first entry into the Stamping 411's Saturday Sketch challenge.  I've been a "lurker" of this site for awhile now and never had the courage to submit a sample until now.   I hope it is worthy. Here is the sketch:

Actually, this card fulfills two challenges.  The theme for our Saturday Stamp Club is "botanicals" I love the scrunchy flower (see a video tutorial I created here), and thought it would be perfect for the swap.  I punched out the pieces of the flower from an old seed catalog I have in my paper stash.  The multi-colored piece came from a catalog I picked up in Santa Fe, NM called The Collector's Guide, A Companion for your Art Journey.  It is filled with photographs of artwork found in galleries in ABQ, Santa Fe and Taos.  I keep it on my night stand (along with the Stampin' Up! catalog), and I often flip through it before I go to bed looking for inspiration from the awe-inspiring art work.  (it makes for some vivid dreams!) I enjoy incorporating the brightly colored pages in my own creations.  Remember, re-use and recycle!  The multi colored piece is an abstract painting created by Jim Rabby.  I love the texture and his use of bright colors.  I'd love to see this piece in person as well as own some of Rabby's artwork.

Happy Valentine's Day!-Iris Folded Heart

One of my favorite artists is my long time friend Teresa D' Anza.  Teresa is one of the original members of my Sunday Stamp Club, and I am always inspired by her creativity.  The swap theme for our January Club was "our favorite stamping technique."  Teresa chose to create a beautiful heart using her favorite stamping technique, Iris Folding.  This card is perfect for Valentine's Day!  Thank you Teresa.

The swap theme for our January Sunday Stamp Club was "our favorite stamping technique."  I have so many favorites, and I couldn't come up with just one.  So, I made a different swap card for each member using one of my 10 favorite techniques.  Check out my postings on Feb 7 and 9 for the first 6 of my top 10 favorite stamping techniques.

Baby Wipes 

Use baby wipes and reinkers to create your own spectrum pad.  Place a folded baby wipe on a Powder Pal or paper plate.  Add drops of reinkers onto the baby wipe.  Ink up your stamp using this as your ink palette.

Paper: Whisper White, Pink Passion

Accessories: Baby Wipes, rhinestone brads, Hugs Sending Love note cards

For all of the cards, I used the Hugs die-cut Sending Love Note cards and the coordinating Glassine Rectangle Envelopes found on page 19 of the Occasions Mini Catalog.  You can decorate and add a greeting to the scalloped edged "Hug" note card and put it in a glassine envelope as is or add it to the inside of a folded card like I did with my swaps, measuring 3 3/4 x 4 1/2 and scored at 2 1/8.  These make sending little love notes to your favorite Valentine so simple!

This challenge has been fun.  I've enjoyed revisiting my favorite stamping techniques, especially ones like Polished Stone and Shaving Cream which I learned 8+ years ago from my friend Emilee Howland-Davis when I first started stamping.  I hope you've enjoyed my list too!

 Gold Tipped Embossing-this is one I learned at the Stampin' Up! Regionals in PHX in January.

Ink up your image using craft ink.  Then dab on Encore Gold Metallic ink on the tips of the image.  Heat emboss with Iridescent Ice embossing powder for a sparkly effect.

Stamp Set: With All My Heart

Ink: Real Red Craft, Encore Gold Metallic

Paper: Basic Black, Whisper White, Gold

Accessories: Iridescent Ice embossing powder, heat tool, 1 3/8", 1 1/4" and 1 1/16" circle punches, Vintage Brad, sponge dauber, Hugs Sending Love Note cards

Paper Lace Tutorial-You Hold the Key to my Heart

Recently I was cleaning out our "catch-all" drawer in our kitchen, and I found all these keys.  What do they open?? Who knows!  Of course, you can't throw something like these away.  So, I bagged them up with every intention of using them in my crafting.  I thought the key incorporated into a sentiment would be a perfect addition to a Valentine's Day card.

I also thought the addition of the key lent itself to a vintage look. For the sentiment,I cut out words from a newspaper, distressed them by tearing and adding some gold metallic speckles.  I punched out a heart on the card front using my Heart punch and added another heart punched out of Sending Love Designer Series paper for the inside.

I then added a paper lace border made out of pages from my old dictionary.  This is just the latest of the projects I've created using this treasured resource!
