Today is the day we say goodbye to some of our favorite stamp sets. Here is a fun flower pot card made using Doodle This.

I saw this design in PaperCrafts Magazine and thought how cute is that! It is a great way to use the retiring Doodle This stamp set.

Here is another card I created using Heartfelt Thanks. Remember, after June 30th, this versatile stamp set will no longer be available.
Designer Series Paper used was Bella Birds. I'm sad to see this one retiring too. I love the color combinations. Ink used was So Saffron and Chocolate Chip.
Heartfelt Thanks was my first two-step stamp I purchased many years ago, and I'm sorry to see it go. It is one of those stamp sets that can bring whimsy or elegance to any project depending on the design and colors used.
I used Parisian Summer DSP (retiring). I love the texture of this designer series paper. Ink used was Baja Breeze (retiring) and Chocolate Chip. I really like this color combo.
I used Raspberry Tart DSP (retiring) for this one. Ink used was Pink Pirouette (my favorite retiring In Color) and Rose Red.
Here's a sample of a super easy card to create. Colors used is one of my all time favorite combos; Pale Plum, Perfect Plum and Sage Shadow. The greeting is Sweet Serendipity, also retiring. I've had this fun little greeting set for awhile now. I just mounted and started using it, and am now sad to see it retiring.
This summery card was made using the Big Shot and Scallop Circle die.
I cut out two scallop circles;one out of Summer Sun card stock, the other out of Good Morning Sunshine Designer Series paper (retiring). I then cut out individual "petals" from the DSP scallop circle using scissors and added them to the Summer Sun scallop circle using Dimensionals. It took a little bit of time to cut out the petals, but all in all, a simple, but very cute card. One of my favorites.
The leaves were cut out using the Birds and Blooms sizzlit and then run through the crimper for texture.
Today in Albuquerque, it was mostly cloudy, and we had on and off again rain here at my house in the foothills of the Sandia Mountains. Tonight, I was doing my nightly chores (feeding the birds, filling the bird bath), I looked up and saw this rainbow. I had to share as sometimes it is ok to have a non stamping related post on a stamping website! When you live in the desert, you really learn to appreciate rain (and rainbows!).
One of my favorite things to do is to browse through fabric stores. I like to run my hand over the bolts of fabric, feeling the different textures. And I love all the different colors and patterns. But I'm not a big fan of sewing. I have found a way to work with fabrics but without the sewing part using my Big Shot. Attach a piece of fabric to a piece of card stock and run through your Big Shot. This is still one of my favorite ways to use the Big Shot. It is so easy and there is a limitless supply of fun fabrics to work with. I found this summery strawberry fabric at Hobby Lobby and couldn't resist. I knew it would go great with the Tart and Tangy stamp set from Stampin' Up!

Cost: There are two fees for this class depending on whether you attended the beginning paper quilling class taught by Monica in February.
For new students: Cost of the class is $25.00. This fee will include all the supplies needed for the quilled chocolates and gift box, plus basic paper quilling supplies (quilling tool, a packet of quilling paper, glue and quilling chart) For returning students: Cost of the class is $15.00. Please be sure to bring your quilling tool and glue.
Both classes will include all supplies needed to create a variety of quilled chocolates and gift box. This includes quilling paper, gift box which will be decorated using Sweet Always Designer Series paper from Stampin' Up!, paper candy cups, a Nutritional Facts label and full instructions.

On Sunday, May 17, the Albuquerque Journal, had this photo and complimentary article in their Arts section. This is a photo of the design on a silk kimono created by Bunny Bowen. Absolutely beautiful! I saw it and immediately thought it would be a great color combo for my watercolor roses.
Here's my rose. Colors used: pink passion, pretty in pink, lovely lilac. Look for inspiration everywhere!
I call this one my Beta Sigma Phi rose because the flower for the organization is a yellow rose.
Colors used are Summer Sun and Really Rust. Pumpkin Pie would work too.
The Floating Watercolor technique has become one of my top 5 favorites. This is definitely one of those WOW techniques!
What you'll need:
-White craft ink pad
-white embossing powder
-heat tool
-coordinating Classic Dye ink refills
-a plastic lid or container to use as the palette for the re-inkers
-spritzer bottle filled with water
-aqua painter or small paint brush
-Shimmery White card stock (regular matte card stock will work, but it won't have the shimmery effect) or watercolor paper
-stamp with detail-I used the rose stamp found in Fifth Avenue Floral
1. Ink detailed stamp in white craft ink and stamp on Shimmery White card stock. Apply white embossing powder and heat with heat tool. Make sure you have embossed the image fully. It is hard to tell since you are embossing white on white card stock. After embossing, let the image cool for a few seconds and then gently rub you fingers over the image to make sure all areas are embossed. If the image is not completely embossed, you will lose any loose embossing powder when you spritz water on the image in the next step.
I like to stamp the image in white craft ink rather than Versamark and then emboss with white embossing powder because I want the white in the image to really pop and show definition.
2. Choose the colors for your rose. Apply drops of Classic Dye reinkers onto your palette. I use a plastic lid from an old dip container.
For color inspiration, look at the roses in your garden, in your neighborhood, at a local nursery or in garden catalogs. The colors shown here are Cameo Coral, Barely Banana and Pretty in Pink.
3. Spray the embossed piece with water using a spritzer bottle. You want the piece to be fairly wet. I can tell when it is wet enough when the edges of Shimmery White card stock begin to curl under.
4. Dip your aqua painter or paint brush in water. Then pick up some color by dipping it into a drop of reinker on your palette. Lightly touch the tip of the aqua painter onto the wet card stock. The color will instantly run, filling in the spaces between the embossed lines. This is where the WOW! comes in. Too cool.
5. Add other colors as you like. If the colors are too dark, you can always spritz with more water to spread the colors out.
6. Set aside to dry. It takes about 15-20 minutes in our dry southwest climate. Remember, you have started with a pretty wet piece of card stock. Be patient.
7. Cut the rose out with a pair of detail scissors and finish card as desired.
Here's a close up of the finished rose. Isn't it beautiful? This one reminds me of the Princess Diana roses in my yard.
