Happiness with Sticky Cuts Letters and Glitter

More glitter!  I had to try out my new shipment of Sticky Cuts Letters and Fine Cosmo glitter (page 186, $8.95, $13.95)  What fun!  Unfortunately, again I am unable to capture how this card sparkles with my very basic knowledge of photography.

 

Glitter and Lace

 

This is one of my all time favorite cards that I created years ago.  In person, this card just sparkles!  To create this beauty, you need a piece of lace, very fine glitter and a sticky surface.  I used an Avery full sheet label cut down to size.  Peel the backing off the label and lay your lace onto the sticky side.  Carefully add glitter and then peel off the lace.  Very simple, but it is one of those WOW! projects.

I was very excited about Stampin' Up!s new line of Fine Cosmo glitter (page 186, $13.95)  It comes in Rose Pink, Orchid,Light Blue, Celery and Turquoise (9 grams each).  This card was created using the Orchid glitter.  As you can imagine, it really sparkles in person!

Pretties Flower Spring Card

Valentine's Day is past, and I'm ready for Spring!  This card features the large flower from Stampin' Up's! Pretties kit ( page 188 in the Spring-Summer Collection, $29.95).  What is cool about this card is that the white flower picks up the blue in the background piece.

By changing the greeting, this card could be a wedding, anniversary or a best wishes for a new baby card.

Valentine's Basket using Rub-Ons

Ok, I'm hooked!  Stampin' Up's! new line of Rub-Ons are so fun and easy to use.  I have been having great fun adding them to various projects.  I needed a quick Valentine's gift, so I added a few images from the Eastern Elegance Rub-On collection to an inexpensive tin basket that I found at Hobby Lobby.  I filled it with red and silver tissue paper and added a medium cello bag filled with Hershey Kisses.  The greeting on the tag is from the Define Your Life stamp set.

Valentine's Batik

Happy Valentine's Day!  Here's one more Batik card using the Bud Basics stamp set.  I have discovered that I really like  making long cards and using Stampin' Up's Small Open-End  Envelopes This color combo really makes me smile!

Coaster Post It Note Holders

This is a very simple project that can be used to make quick gifts.  I covered square coasters with Flowers for You Designer-Series paper.  Decorated a binder clip and added a magnetic strip to the back on one and added a magnetic bull dog clip (found at Office Max)  on the other.  I glued on magnetic pen holders (again, found at Office Max) using Crystal Effects.  I found a packet of small sparkle pens at Target for a $1.  Hang these on your refrigerator, and you'll never have to search for a post it note again! Oh, and by the way, have you seen all the great colors post it notes now come in?

For this one, I added a small 3x3 Valentine note card to the clip.  Package these in a medium cello bag, add a topper, and you've got an instant gift for someone special.

Burned Batik-masculine Valentine's Day card

I recently held a Batik workshop.  My hostess asked that we create a masculine Valentine's Day card as that always seems to be a challenge. I used Stampin' Up's Wanted and Sanded stamp sets, hemp twine, jumbo eyelets and colors from the Earth Elements color family.  The colors used were More Mustard, Ruby Red, Real Rust and Chocolate Chip dye ink.   The veining was done using Real Rust and Chocolate Chip ink.  The Crop-a-dile was used to set the jumbo eyelets.

Batik Technique

I learned the Batik technique from my friend Denise Carlson, and it has become one of my favorite top 5 stamping techniques. For this card, I used Apricot Appeal, Cameo Coral and Rose Red craft ink spots.  I did two-step using the Wild Rose stamp set.  The solid, smaller rose image was stamped using using white craft ink.  Then, the coordinating line image was over-stamped using Purely Pomegranate. Purely Pomegranate was also used for the veining.  The stamp set Canvas was used for a subtle background.  Apricot Appeal and Cameo Coral card stock were used along with Purely Pomegranate double-stitched ribbon for the added pop.  I absolutely love this color combo.

The great thing about the Batik technique is you can use different colored craft ink to achieve totally different looks.  For this card, I used Summer Sun, Pumpkin Pie and Real Rust craft ink spots.  Chocolate Chip was used for the over-stamping and Real Rust was used for the veining.  The back-ground stamp set used was Sanded.

And here is one more sample with a more subtle look.  Bashful Blue, Sage Shadow, and Ballet Blue craft ink spots were used.

Featured product-Stamp-a-ma-jig

I recently treated myself and purchased the Wild Rose stamp set (page 88 in the Spring-Summer Collection 2008, $36.95).  It is such an elegant set.  But, cutting and properly mounting this set for ease in two-step stampin' is a little daunting.  Stampin' Up! recently provided a great tutorial on using the Stamp-a-ma-jig to help with label and stamp placement.  I cut and mounted the Wild Rose set using their tutorial, and I thought I'd pass it onto you.  I will be using my Stamp-a-ma-jig (page 184, $11.95)  more often in the future! 

One note, My husband and I tried to take photos of me using the Stamp-a-ma-jig with the Wild Rose stamp set.  None of the pictures turned out, so I am using the photos provided by Stampin' Up!

Perfect Placement: When you assemble your stamps using the Stamp-a-ma-jig, the label will be placed precisely to match the rubber.  This gives you one way to know exactly where you're stamping each time.  Here's how:

Step 1: Mount stamp on wood block as desired.

Step 2: Line up corner of Stamp-a-ma-jig imaging sheet with your Stamp-a-ma-jig, and stamp image in corner of sheet.

Step 3: Turn imaging sheet over, and line up the label, sticky-side up, over the stamped image.  Lightly adhere label to imaging sheet using SNAIL Adhesive.

Step 4: Line up stamp with Stamp-a-ma-jig once again.  Turn imaging sheet back over, line up corner with Stamp-a-ma-jig over stamp and press down on block to adhere label

Easy Two-Step Stampin' using the Stamp-a-ma-jig

There's no need to realign the imaging sheet each time you stamp-just use the corner of the Stamp-a-ma-jig to guide you.  This method is perfect for Two-Step Stampin' sets, but you may like it so much that you use it with all your stamps!

Step 1: Mount first stamp on wood block as desired.

Step 2: Line up corner of Stamp-a-ma-jig imaging sheet with your Stamp-a-ma-jig, and stamp image in corner of sheet.  Mark corner of wood block that was lined up with the Stamp-a-ma-jig.

Step 3: Remove backing from rubber portion of second stamp, hold by edges and line up exactly over the stamped image on the imaging sheet with the sticky side up.  You may need to pick up the imaging sheet to see that image is aligned properly.

Step 4: Line up wood block for second stamp with Stamp-a-ma-jig and press down to mount stamp.

Valentine's Day Peppermint Patties

Valentine's Day would not be complete without chocolates!  Here's another quick and easy project that can be given to friends, teachers, co-workers and classmates and will certainly bring on a smile.

Supplies used:

Flower stamp from Happy Heart Day

Ginger Blossom Designer Series paper and coordinating Ruby Red, Cameo Coral, Groovy Guava and River Rock card stock.

Ruby Red ink and Cameo Coral marker

River Rock double stitched ribbon

Scallop circle punch

Mini Glue Dots and Stampin' Dimensionals

Circle tin came from Hobby Lobby or Michaels (can't remember which)

The hardest part of this project is not eating up all the Peppermint Patties.  Yum!

Have fun mixing and matching colors. 

Ghiradelli Chocolate Boxes

Just in time for  Valentine's Day!  These Ghiradelli Chocolate boxes are very simple to make.  The box on the left was made using a transparency sheet.  I used Stampin' Up!'s Baroque Motifs stamp set and stamped the images using white and brown Stazon.  You will need to use Stazon on the transparency sheet as regular ink will rub off.  The box on the left was made using vellum card stock.  Baroque Motifs was also used.  I stamped the swirls using white Stazon and the flowers were stamped in Cameo Coral dye ink.  I used sticky tape to seal the bottom and side flaps. The tops were punched and tied with ribbon.

Tips: The key to folding these boxes is sharp score lines.  Use your bone folder to make crisp creases.  Also, be aware, the vellum card stock can tear, so be careful while working with it.  I scored the transparency sheet and vellum first, then stamped the images.  I then let the ink dry for a few minutes before doing any folding.  That way your images won't smear.

There are several types of Ghiradelli chocolates, so you pick your ink and ribbon to match.

Valentine's Day card by Teresa D' Anza

Teresa has created another beautiful card.  I love the pink and black colors, the touch of glitter added to the hearts for sparkle and the black and white polka dotted ribbon for the finishing touch.  Teresa used the Priceless stamp set from Stampin' Up!  Thanks Teresa!
